Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) in Turkey jumped more than a quarter in the first four months of 2026, according to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD).

EV sales increased by 28 percent year on year between January and April to 54,463, while hybrid car sales rose by 6 percent annually to 94,441, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported, quoting ODMD data.

A total of 16,472 EVs were sold in April, accounting for 21 percent of the market share. 24,849 hybrid cars were sold, representing a market share of 31 percent.

The share of EVs in total sales increased from 14 percent to 19 percent, while the hybrid vehicle share rose from 29 percent to 33 percent.

Sales of gasoline cars fell by 18 percent, while autogas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cars declined by 28 percent. No reasons were given for the drop in sales, although the Iran conflict has restricted the supply of oil and LPG.

Diesel car sales dropped by 33 percent as global manufacturers continued phasing out production, the report said.
