QNT Technical Analysis Jan 20

Short-term momentum signals in QNT are reviving with the bullish MACD histogram, while the overall downtrend pressure continues – a signal for a cautious consolidation period.

Trend Status and Momentum Analysis

QNT is trading at the 78.28 dollar level as of January 20, 2026, having experienced a 9.64% decline in the last 24 hours. The daily range was realized between 78.13-88.30 dollars, with volume hovering around 24.57 million dollars. While the overall trend direction is defined as downtrend, momentum indicators are giving mixed signals. Being positioned above the short-term EMA20 (77.45 dollars) provides a bullish short-term bias, but the Supertrend indicator is giving a bearish signal and pointing to the 98.21 dollar resistance. This situation indicates that momentum is in a weak recovery effort. Although volume did not show a significant increase in the recent decline, it carries potential for a slight increase signaling accumulation in the final stages of the downtrend. In the confluence of momentum oscillators, the MACD’s positive histogram stands out; this implies that sellers’ strength is waning and buyers may enter. However, since the overall trend is downtrend, volume confirmation is essential for these signals to trigger a trend reversal.

RSI Indicator: Buy or Sell?

RSI Divergence Analysis

RSI (14) is currently positioned at the neutral 51.23 level, giving neither overbought nor oversold signals. Despite the recent price decline, no clear regular bullish divergence is observed in RSI; as price made new lows, RSI could not hold its bottom levels, confirming that the downtrend’s momentum is still alive. From a hidden divergence perspective, a slight bullish hidden divergence can be observed in short-term charts – while price holds above EMA20, RSI breaks above the 50 band. Although this could be a potential signal for trend continuation, it remains weak in the downtrend context. In multi-timeframe (1D/3D/1W), RSI is generally stuck in the 40-60 band; holding around 45 in the 1W timeframe carries the risk of approaching long-term oversold. The absence of divergence indicates that momentum needs consolidation before changing direction.

Overbought/Oversold Regions

RSI at 51.23 is in the middle neutral zone; no overbought above 70 or oversold below 30. The decline in the last 24 hours pulled RSI from the 60s to 51, signaling slowing momentum. If RSI drops below 40, bearish momentum could accelerate and test the 67.14 dollar support. Conversely, a breakout above 60 with volume confirmation would strengthen the short-term bullish bias. Overall, RSI indicates that selling pressure is easing but not giving a strong buy signal – wait and see mode prevails.

MACD Signals and Histogram Dynamics

MACD status is reported as bullish, with the histogram positive and showing expansion tendency. The signal line crossover has occurred in the positive direction; the MACD line (around 1.25) has crossed above the signal line (0.95). Histogram bars have partially expanded recently, indicating momentum shifting toward bullish. Within the downtrend, this forms a divergence-like structure – as price falls, the MACD histogram turns positive, implying seller exhaustion. However, the histogram’s proximity to zero (around 0.30) indicates no strong momentum burst. In the 1D timeframe, histogram peaks have regressed, with expansion starting after contraction. If the histogram rises above 0.50, it could trigger a breakout of the 80.88 dollar resistance. Lack of volume confirmation requires cautious interpretation of the MACD signal; check the QNT Futures Analysis section for futures trading.

EMA Systems and Trend Strength

Short-Term EMAs

Price is taking a bullish short-term position above EMA20 (77.45 dollars); the ribbon between EMA10 and EMA20 has tightened, with low but stable trend strength. Remaining below EMA50 (80.12 dollars) preserves the downtrend. Short-term EMA dynamics support momentum recovery with price holding in the 78 dollar band – no ribbon expansion, flat trend prevails.

Medium/Long-Term EMA Supports

With price below EMA50 (80.12) and EMA200 (85.67), it confirms medium-term trend weakness. The EMA ribbon has widened in the downtrend, with strong bearish bias. Around 75.96 dollars overlaps with EMA100 support (score 63/100), making it critical. Long-term EMAs (EMA200) form resistance above 85 dollars; volume is required for breakout. EMA systems indicate overall trend strength is weak, but with short-term recovery potential.

Bitcoin Correlation

QNT shows high correlation with BTC among altcoins (0.85+). BTC is currently at 89,535 dollars with a 3.95% decline in downtrend; key supports 88,335-86,637-85,058 dollars, resistances 90,944-92,983 dollars. BTC Supertrend is bearish, rising dominance pressuring altcoins. QNT’s recent decline follows BTC movement; if BTC cannot break 90k resistance, QNT will be rejected at 80.88 resistance. If BTC drops below 85k, QNT could head toward bearish target 46.52 (score 21). Conversely, BTC 92k breakout opens 108.58 target for QNT (score 47). BTC dominance caution limits altcoin momentum – follow QNT Spot Analysis for spot trading details. MTF confluence (13 strong levels: 1D 3S/2R, 3D 2S/1R, 1W 4S/3R) strengthens BTC downtrend.

Momentum Outcome and Expectations

Momentum indicators paint a mixed picture for QNT: Bullish MACD histogram and position above EMA20 signal short-term buyer interest, while RSI neutrality (51.23) and overall downtrend pressure require caution. Divergences are weak, histogram carries expansion potential but lacks volume confirmation. Supports 67.14-75.96-71.84 (high scores), resistances 80.88-86.11 critical. BTC downtrend increases altcoin risk. Expectations: Short-term 80.88 breakout could lead to bullish 108 target, staying below to bearish 46. Momentum confluence predicts consolidation; monitor volume spikes. These dynamics emphasize low trend strength and the need for a catalyst for reversal.

Which Altcoins Stand to Gain from the SEC’s New ETF Listing Standards?

On Wednesday, the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) took a landmark step in crypto regulation, approving generic listing standards for spot crypto ETFs (exchange-traded funds). This new framework eliminates the case-by-case 19b-4 approval process, streamlining the path for multiple digital asset ETFs to enter the market in the coming weeks. Grayscale’s Multi-Crypto Milestone Grayscale secured a first-mover advantage as its Digital Large Cap Fund (GDLC) received approval under the new listing standards. Products that will be traded under the ticker GDLC include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano. “Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund $GDLC was just approved for trading along with the Generic Listing Standards. The Grayscale team is working expeditiously to bring the FIRST multi-crypto asset ETP to market with Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano,” wrote Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg. The approval marks the US’s first diversified, multi-crypto ETP, signaling a shift toward broader portfolio products rather than single-asset ETFs. Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas explained that around 12–15 cryptocurrencies now qualify for spot ETF consideration. However, this is contingent on the altcoins having established futures trading on Coinbase Derivatives for at least six months. This includes well-known altcoins like Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), and Chainlink (LINK), alongside the majors already included in Grayscale’s GDLC. Altcoins in the Spotlight Amid New Era of ETF Eligibility Several assets have already met the key condition, regulated futures trading on Coinbase. For example, Solana futures launched in February 2024, making the token eligible as of August 19. “The SEC approved generic ETF listing standards. Assets with a regulated futures contract trading for 6 months qualify for a spot ETF. Solana met this criterion on Aug 19, 6 months after SOL futures launched on Coinbase Derivatives,” SolanaFloor indicated. Crypto investors and communities also identified which tokens stand to gain. Chainlink community liaison Zach Rynes highlighted that LINK could soon see its own ETF. He noted that both Bitwise and Grayscale have already filed applications. Meanwhile, the Litecoin Foundation indicated that the new standards provide the regulatory framework for LTC to be listed on US exchanges. Hedera is also in the spotlight, with digital asset investor Mark anticipating an HBAR ETF. Market observers see the decision as a potential turning point for broader adoption, bringing the much-needed clarity and accessibility for investors. At the same time, it boosts confidence in the market’s maturity. The general sentiment is that with the SEC’s approval, the next phase of crypto ETFs is no longer a question of ‘if,’ but ‘when.’ The shift to generic listing standards could expand the US-listed digital asset ETFs roster beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Such a move would usher in new investment vehicles covering a dozen or more altcoins. This represents the clearest path yet toward mainstream, regulated access to diversified crypto exposure. More importantly, it comes without the friction of direct custody. “We’re gonna be off to the races in a matter of weeks,” ETF analyst James Seyffart quipped.
