UAE developer Arada has awarded the main construction contracts for 14 residential blocks, comprising 2,210 dwellings within the Aljada development in Sharjah.

The total value of the contracts stood at AED2 billion ($556 million), the developer said in a statement.

The construction of the five Nesba buildings on East Boulevard and the five Safa buildings on West Boulevard in the AED35 billion megaproject will be undertaken by China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group, a subsidiary of the state-owned China Railway Group.

The contract for The Gate blocks 3-6, located at the project’s southern entrance, was awarded to Kuwait-based Mohammed Abdulmohsin Al Kharafi and Sons. The Kuwaiti company has previously worked with Arada on projects in Aljada, Masaar and Nasma Residences.

Each contract has a duration of 26 months, with the buildings scheduled for handover in the second quarter of 2028.

“These large-scale contracts reflect our confidence in the local market and our determination to continue to aggressively deliver on our projects across the UAE,” said Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada.

The Nesba and Safa communities are located adjacent to Aljada’s sports park, which is currently scheduled to open by the end of 2026.

Aljada spans 24 million square feet and features more than 25,000 homes. Currently, it is home to 20,000 people

In January Arada said sales tripled in 2025 to AED17.3 billion due to strong demand for homes across its master-planned communities and luxury developments in Dubai and Sharjah.

Unit sales more than doubled to 5,140 last year from 2,171 units in 2024.
