Once the recovery phrase is exposed, attackers can gain complete control of the wallet and transfer its assets. Ledger has clearly stated that it will never request a recovery phrase through SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, telephone calls, or physical letters, and will never ask users to enter it on a computer or website. Anyone receiving such a notice should avoid scanning the QR code, verify information only by manually entering the official website address, reject transactions they did not initiate, and ensure that a recovery phrase is entered only on the hardware wallet itself during the recovery process.
