Four Indian films, show on Netflix global top 10

For the third week in a row, Manoj Bajpayee’s Hindi film Inspector Zende retained a slot on Netflix’s weekly list of most-watched non-English films on the platform. The Bollywood box office blockbuster Saiyaara also maintained a position on the list for the second consecutive week. Saiyaara is the second most-watched non-English film for the week ending September 21 while Inspector Zende is the tenth on the Netflix list. The animated mythological action film Mahavatar Narsimha made its debut on the list at the fifth slot. The Hindi show Ba***ds of Bollywood also made it to the list of most-watched non-English shows on the platform.

Bollywood hit Saiyaara among four Indian films, show on Netflix global top 10

A total of four Indian films and shows have made it to the Netflix global top 10 this week. These include Hindi films Saiyaara and Inspector Zende; the Hindi show Ba***ds of Bollywood, and the animation film Mahavatar Narsimha. Inspector Zende is on the list for the third consecutive week while it is the second week on Netflix and the list for Saiyaara.

Mahavatar Narsimha

The animation film Mahavatar Narsimha landed on Netflix on September 19 and recorded 2.3 million views and 5 million watch-hours on the platform in just three days. It also ranked among the top ten movies in four countries across the world. The film was the third most watched film on Netflix for the week in India, as per Ormax Media.

Directed by debutant Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narsimha traces two incarnations of the Hindu God, Vishnu – Varaha (boar) and Narsimha (lion-man). Produced by Kleem Productions, the film is the first part of a seven-part Mahavatar Cinematic Universe which intends to cover all the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

Saiyaara

In its second week on the platform, Saiyaara registered 4.8 million views and 11.9 million watch-hours to become the second most-watched non-English film on Netflix for the week ending September 21.

The film, directed by Mohit Suri, debuted as the topmost watched non-English film on the platform last week. It was the most-watched film in eight countries including Mauritius, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Oman and UAE.

With six million views, Saiyaara was also the most watched film across all digital platforms in India. For the two weeks since its digital debut, the film has been on top of Ormax Media’s list of most-watched films online in India.

Directed by Mohit Suri (Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain), Saiyaara features Aneet Padda and debutant Ahaan Panday. The film talks about artists and their selfless for each other. When it hit theatres in July, Saiyaara retained a spot among global top ten scorers for two consecutive weekends.

Inspector Zende

Inspector Zende managed to remain on the most watched films’ list on Netflix. In its third week. The film recorded 1.1 million views and 2 million watch-hours on the platform to become the tenth most-watched non-English film on Netflix. It was also among the top ten movies in seven countries across the globe. It was the second most watched film in India on Netflix. Featuring Jim Sarbh and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles, the cop drama is directed by Chinmay D Mandlekar.

Ba***s of Bollywood

The directorial debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aaryan Khan was the talk of the town even before its release. Ba***ds of Bollywood ranked as the fourth most-watched non-English show on Netflix worldwide for the week ending September 21. The show landed online on September 18 and recorded 2.8 million views and 14.8 million watch-hours on Netflix in just four days. It was also the most-watched show in nine countries across the globe and ranked among the top ten shows in 14 countries.

In India, Ba***ds of Bollywood recorded 4.6 million views and was the most watched show online for the week. It features Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Rajat Bedi and Gautami Kapoor.
