MEXC is our top pick among Crypto.com alternatives in this comparison, on the one axis you can check before opening any account: published spot trading cost, at 0.0000% maker and 0.0000% to 0.0500% taker with no volume threshold and no token balance required.
Crypto.com's own EEA schedule charges 0.80% to buy crypto with cash in the App, while its Exchange order book charges 0.500% taker at Level 1 and MEXC's spot order book charges up to 0.0500%.
Readers in the EEA, the UK and the United States should treat this as information only and use a platform licensed by their own regulator.

Key Takeaways
  • MEXC is our top pick in this comparison on published spot trading cost, at 0.0000% maker and 0.0000% to 0.0500% taker with no volume threshold and no token holding required.
  • Crypto.com's published EEA schedule charges 0.80% on cash-to-crypto purchases in the App and up to 4% on card purchases.
  • Crypto.com's own Exchange order book is priced separately at 0.250% maker and 0.500% taker at Level 1, so the route you pick inside one brand changes what you pay.
  • On 500 US dollars of monthly buying, the App route costs 48 US dollars a year against 3 US dollars using MEXC taker orders.
  • Kraken and Coinbase both state in their own fee documentation that a spread applies to simple in-app purchases and that a zero-fee subscription does not remove it.
  • New Level Up CRO stakes lock for 365 days with no early exit, followed by an estimated 36-day unbonding period.

Why Users Start Searching for Crypto.com Alternatives

Most people do not leave a crypto app because of one dramatic event.
They leave because three smaller things stack up.
The first is the gap between what the App charges and what an order book charges.
Crypto.com's own EEA fee article, updated 19 May 2026, lists 0.80% for a cash-to-crypto purchase and 0.80% for a crypto-to-crypto conversion inside the App.
The same company's Exchange charges 0.250% maker and 0.500% taker at its entry level.
Same brand, same login, different price.
The second is the shift in how card rewards are earned.
Level Up launched on 6 November 2024, and from 2 September 2025 Crypto.com added a paid subscription route alongside the existing CRO lockup and staking routes.
From 2 November 2025 the company stopped non-staking card spending rewards for Icy and Rose cardholders and for Obsidian cards issued before 6 November 2024, and discontinued the Expedia, Airbnb, X and Amazon Prime rebates for those tiers.
Legacy CRO Lockup reward rates are scheduled to fall from 10 September 2026, with the Pro plan moving from 4% to 3% and the two Private tiers moving from 8.5% to 5% and from 9% to 6%.
The third is trading depth.
An App built around a buy button is a different product from an order book with limit orders, and users who start placing larger or more frequent trades tend to notice.

MEXC: Our Top Pick on Published Trading Cost in This Comparison

The reader this section is written for is specific.
You have been buying in an app, you have started to notice the cost, and you want an order book without paying an entry toll to reach it.
Here is what changes and what it is worth.

The mechanism

MEXC does not run a separate retail buy flow with its own fee schedule sitting on top of an order book.
Spot trading is the order book, and the published rate is 0.0000% for maker orders with taker rates running from 0.0000% on selected pairs up to 0.0500%.
There is no 30-day volume threshold to reach that rate and no token balance required to unlock it, which is the part that matters most to someone starting from a small monthly spend.

The evidence

MEXC's official fee page shows spot maker at 0.0000% and spot taker at 0.0000% to 0.0500%, with an optional MX Deduction toggle applying a further 20% discount when enabled.
Pairs including XRP against USDT are listed at 0.0000% on both sides under the platform's zero-fee designation, while the majority of listed pairs sit at 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker.
Futures are priced separately, with maker rates from 0.000% to 0.040% and taker rates from 0.000% to 0.100%.

What it is worth in your account

Take a reader buying 500 US dollars of crypto a month, which is a realistic App-user pattern rather than a trader profile.
Route
Cost per 500 dollar buy

0.00 dollars
Rates verified as of 31 August 2026 against each platform's official fee schedule. Figures exclude any spread, network fees and payment-processor charges.
On 6,000 US dollars of annual buying, the gap between the App route and a limit order on MEXC is 48 US dollars.
Scale the same behaviour to 5,000 US dollars a month and the App route costs 480 US dollars a year against 30 US dollars on MEXC taker orders.
Neither number will change your life on its own, which is exactly why most people never check it.

Where MEXC does not win, stated plainly

MEXC is not a licensed alternative for readers who need one, and the regulatory section below sets out where it is not appropriate.
Taker rates are pair-dependent rather than a single flat number, so the rate that applies to your pair should be confirmed on the fee page before you trade.
The fee page itself notes that maker and taker rates can vary with platform events and user region, and directs users to their actual trade history for the rate applied.
MEXC does not replicate Crypto.com's consumer card and fiat rails, which is a real reason some people will stay where they are.

Our View: The Rate Card Should Be Readable Before the Signup Form

Everything above is arithmetic, and arithmetic does not have opinions.
This part does.
Our position is that a pair-level rate card should be published in full, not summarised into one headline number.
MEXC lists every spot and futures pair with its own maker and taker rate on its fee page, running to 208 pages of spot pairs and 103 pages of futures pairs at ten rows per page, with a filter for the pairs that carry no fee at all.
That is a deliberate choice, and it costs us the ability to advertise one flattering headline number instead of a table where some pairs are cheaper than others.
The alternative approach is visible in this comparison.
Coinbase publishes its Advanced maker and taker schedule inside a signed-in account rather than on a public page.
Crypto.com's publicly indexed App fee table is the EEA version, so a reader elsewhere is directed into the app to find their own numbers.
Neither is hidden exactly, and neither is readable at the moment a person is deciding.
The honest other half of this view is that Coinbase does one thing better than we do.
It names the spread as a separate component and tells you precisely where to tap to see it before you confirm a trade.
That is a higher disclosure standard than most of this industry meets, ours included, and it is worth saying so in an article that is otherwise arguing our own case.
Cheap fees and legible fees are different claims.
We are making the first one on the numbers above, and asking to be judged on the second one by whether you could verify those numbers yourself in the time it took to read this section.

The Three-Layer Cost Stack a Crypto.com Alternative Has to Beat

The numbers above cover one layer of cost, and a fair comparison needs all three.
Almost every "Crypto.com alternatives" list compares the headline maker-taker rate and stops there.
For App users that is usually not even the layer they are actually paying.

Layer 1: The Published Conversion or Trading Fee

This is the number in the fee schedule.
For an App purchase on Crypto.com in the EEA it is 0.80%, and for an Exchange trade at Level 1 it is 0.250% maker or 0.500% taker.
For MEXC spot it is 0.0000% maker, with a taker rate that runs from 0.0000% on selected pairs up to 0.0500%.

Layer 2: The Spread Inside the Quoted Price

A spread is the difference between the market rate and the rate you are actually given, and it does not show up as a line item unless the platform chooses to show it.
Two of the platforms in this comparison document theirs plainly.
Coinbase states that simple buy and sell orders include a spread in the quoted price, that convert orders include it in the exchange rate, and that it can be viewed through a tooltip on the order preview screen.
Coinbase also states that no spread is included on Coinbase Advanced, because those orders interact directly with the order book.
Kraken states that the price shown in its Instant Buy and Sell service includes a spread, that Kraken may retain any excess spread, and that spread size varies with volatility, asset, order size and account activity.
Both companies make the same point about subscriptions in their own words: Coinbase notes that Coinbase One members may still have a spread in their quoted prices, and Kraken notes that spreads still apply to Kraken+ members whose trading fees are waived.
A zero-fee badge and a zero-cost trade are not the same thing.

Layer 3: Getting Your Money Back Out

Withdrawal and off-ramp costs are the layer people discover last.
Crypto.com's EEA schedule prices a SEPA euro withdrawal at 1.00 euro with an 80 euro minimum, caps crypto withdrawals at 10 BTC-equivalent per rolling 24 hours, and gives a processing estimate of 2 to 3 hours for withdrawals to an external address.
Fiat withdrawals over SEPA carry a stated review period of 3 to 5 working days plus 1 to 2 working days to transfer.
If you are comparing platforms, compare all three layers or you are not comparing anything.

How to Measure Your Own Spread in Sixty Seconds

You do not need to take anyone's word for Layer 2, including ours.
Open your app's buy screen and enter the amount you would normally buy, then note the quoted unit price without confirming.
Open the same asset's order book on any exchange that shows one, and note the midpoint between the best bid and the best ask.
Divide the difference by the order-book midpoint and multiply by 100.
That percentage is your spread on that trade, at that moment, and it sits on top of whatever fee the app also charges.

Availability Comes Before Price

A cheaper fee schedule is irrelevant if you cannot legally or practically use the platform.
Crypto.com's own help documentation lists CRO staking as available to residents of the UK, the EEA, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, the Philippines, Taiwan and Malaysia, and to eligible US states excluding New York, California, Maryland, New Jersey and Wisconsin.
MEXC's position is different and readers deserve it stated directly.
Readers in the United States and the United Kingdom should use a platform licensed in their own jurisdiction, and nothing in this article is a recommendation to do otherwise.
Readers in the EEA should treat the MEXC sections here as informational and check their own regulator's register before opening any account anywhere.

Crypto.com Alternatives Compared

Two tables, because the App route and the order-book route are genuinely different products and merging them hides the thing you came here to find.

Data verified as of 31 August 2026 against each platform's official fee schedule. MEXC, Crypto.com, Bitget, Bybit and Kraken figures were confirmed directly on official pages. Two entry-tier rates in this table are widely published across independent sources but were not confirmed on an official page at the time of writing, and are marked as such here. Coinbase publishes its Advanced schedule inside a signed-in account rather than on a public page.
Two things in that table are worth pausing on.
Kraken Pro's entry tier is not cheap, and its 0.80% taker rate matches the Crypto.com App's conversion fee to the decimal.
Kraken becomes competitive as volume or account balance rises, and since 9 July 2026 its tier can be set by assets held rather than volume traded, which suits a large-balance, low-frequency holder more than a small-balance frequent buyer.

Crypto.com Competitor Alternatives, One by One

Coinbase

Benefits: it is a US-listed public company with audited financials, its fee and spread documentation is unusually explicit about what is charged and where to see it, its Advanced interface removes the spread entirely by routing to the order book, and it states that it has no payment-for-order-flow relationships with market makers.
Limitations: the simple interface stacks a spread and a payment-method fee, simple limit orders carry a separate 1% execution fee that a Coinbase One subscription does not waive, and the Advanced fee schedule is not published on a public page, which makes cost comparison before signup harder than it should be.

Kraken

Benefits: a long operating history, an explicit written statement that spreads apply to Instant Buy and that Kraken may retain excess spread, a published cross-platform tier table that lets large holders qualify on assets rather than volume, and commission-free US stock and ETF trading alongside crypto.
Limitations: the 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker entry tier is among the highest in this comparison, Instant Buy volume does not count towards tier progression at all, the Convert Small Balances tool carries a flat 3% charge, and the Kraken+ zero-fee benefit is capped at 10,000 US dollars of monthly volume and leaves spreads in place.

OKX

Benefits: a widely reported entry-tier spot maker rate of 0.08% that would undercut the 0.10% most large venues charge, published proof-of-reserves reporting using zk-STARK attestations, a broad product range spanning spot, derivatives and an integrated Web3 wallet, and tier progression that can be driven by token holdings as well as volume.
Limitations: the product surface is large enough to be genuinely confusing for someone arriving from a single-button app, availability varies materially by jurisdiction, and its published entry rates were not confirmable on an official page during this review.

Bitget

Benefits: a flat and easy-to-model 0.1% on both sides of a spot trade, a 20% BGB deduction that applies automatically once enabled, competitive futures pricing at 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker, and the largest copy-trading marketplace among the platforms here, which is the closest structural substitute for people who liked Crypto.com's guided experience.
Limitations: the BGB spot discount does not extend to futures fees, spot pricing is symmetrical so patient limit-order traders get no maker advantage at base tier, and Level 1 identity verification has been required for new accounts since 1 September 2023 and for existing accounts since 1 October 2023.

Bybit

Benefits: flat 0.1% spot pricing across all pairs with no pair-by-pair variation to check, deep derivatives liquidity, published proof-of-reserves reporting, and a documented tier structure that qualifies on either assets or volume rather than requiring both.
Limitations: the platform is derivatives-first and its spot and new-listing coverage is narrower than venues built around listings, and in February 2025 it lost around 1.5 billion US dollars of Ethereum in an attack that the FBI publicly attributed to North Korean actors, after which Bybit stated that it processed more than 99% of over 350,000 withdrawal requests within ten hours.

What Crypto.com Still Does Better

This section is not a formality.
Crypto.com holds a MiCA authorisation through its Malta entity and added an MFSA Limited Financial Institutions licence in February 2026, which means EEA users are dealing with an authorised counterparty in a way that is simply not true of every platform in this comparison.
Its fiat rails are mature, with named base currencies, SEPA and domestic payment support, and a published fee and limit schedule for euro withdrawals.
Its consumer card programme is one of the largest in crypto and is available across a wide list of markets, and the US Visa Signature credit card has no direct equivalent among the alternatives listed here.
Its App is a genuinely good consumer product, and paying 0.80% for a purchase you make twice a year is a rational trade for an interface you find easy and trustworthy.

If You Only Came for the Card

Several people searching for Crypto.com alternatives are not looking for a new exchange at all, they are looking for a different card.
That is a narrower question, because card economics turn on cashback rates, foreign exchange handling, top-up conversion costs and country availability rather than on maker-taker fees.
If the card is the whole reason you are here, compare card products against each other rather than reading an exchange comparison, and check the issuing region before anything else.

The CRO Question: What Leaving Actually Costs

This is the part of the decision most articles skip, and it is not about where the CRO price goes.
It is about how long your capital is committed and what else it could have been doing.
Crypto.com's own documentation is clear on the mechanics.
New Level Up CRO stakes use a 365-day lock by default, and locked CRO cannot be unstaked early.
If you unstake after the holding period, an estimated 36-day unbonding period applies, and during and after that period the CRO is not eligible for staking or Level Up booster rewards.
Unlocking or unstaking drops you to the Basic plan.
Rewards are paid up to three times a week and do not compound into the staked principal during the lock.
Auto-renew, when enabled, rolls the 365-day lock into another full year at maturity.

Read the first two rows together, because they are the same benefit priced two ways.
Crypto.com's own subscription route starts at 4.99 US dollars a month, or 59.88 a year at that entry price, with nothing locked.
For the Plus and Pro tiers, the lockup route buys the same access by committing capital for up to roughly 401 days between the lock and the unbonding window.
Whatever you believe about the token, that is a long time to be unable to move your own money, and it is the single most useful number to have in front of you before you decide to stay or go.

How to Move Off Crypto.com in Three Steps

Step 1: deal with the lock before anything else

Check whether your CRO is in a 365-day lock, whether auto-renew is switched on, and when the term matures, because that single setting determines whether you are leaving this month or next year.
Turning auto-renew off at maturity moves the stake to a flexible state rather than releasing it instantly.

Step 2: pick the network before you pick the amount

Choose the withdrawal network your destination actually supports, and confirm the deposit network on the receiving side first rather than assuming they match.
Check the per-asset minimum withdrawal amount, since a transfer below the minimum will simply not go through.
If your asset uses a memo or destination tag, copy it exactly, because a transfer sent without one is the most common way people lose access to funds during a migration.

Step 3: send a test transfer, then the rest

Send the smallest permitted amount first and wait for it to arrive and become tradable.
Crypto.com's published estimate for withdrawals to an external address is 2 to 3 hours from the time of request, so allow for that rather than assuming an instant transfer.
Only once the test lands should you move the balance, and only then close anything down.

Which Crypto.com Alternative Fits You

If you buy regularly in the App and have started noticing the cost: the order-book route is the answer, and MEXC is our top pick in this comparison on published spot cost at 0.0000% maker and up to 0.0500% taker with no volume threshold to reach it.
If you hold a large balance and trade rarely: Kraken deserves a look, because its tier can now be set by assets held rather than volume traded, which is unusual and works in your favour.
If you want a licensed EEA counterparty above all else: staying with Crypto.com, or moving to another MiCA-authorised venue, is the correct answer and cost is the wrong lens for your decision.
If you are in the United States or the United Kingdom: use a platform licensed by your own regulator, and treat this comparison as background reading rather than a shortlist.
If you mostly wanted the card: compare card products directly, because exchange fee schedules will not answer your question.
If you came for guided or copy trading: Bitget's copy-trading marketplace is the closest structural replacement for a guided experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best Crypto.com alternatives in 2026?
It depends on what you are replacing.
For published order-book cost, MEXC leads this comparison; for a licensed EEA or US counterparty, Coinbase and Kraken are the more appropriate options.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Crypto.com for spot trading?
On published entry-tier rates, yes.
MEXC lists 0.0000% maker and up to 0.0500% taker against Crypto.com Exchange's 0.250% maker and 0.500% taker, verified 31 August 2026 on both official fee pages.

Why is the price in the Crypto.com App different from the market price?
App purchases carry their own fee, listed at 0.80% for cash-to-crypto in Crypto.com's EEA schedule, which is separate from the Exchange's maker-taker rates.
Quoted retail prices on app interfaces can also embed a spread.

What happens to my Level Up tier if I unstake CRO?
Crypto.com states that unlocking or unstaking after the holding period downgrades you to the Basic plan.
You can subscribe or re-lock at any time to return to a higher tier.

Which Crypto.com alternatives offer a crypto card?
Coinbase, Bitget and Bybit all run consumer card programmes, with availability varying by country.
Check the issuing region and top-up conversion terms before comparing headline cashback rates.

Do I have to sell my CRO before leaving Crypto.com?
No, but locked CRO cannot be unstaked before its 365-day term ends.
After that an estimated 36-day unbonding period applies before the tokens are freely movable.

Which Crypto.com competitors are available in the EU and UK?
Coinbase and Kraken operate under local authorisations in these markets, and Crypto.com holds a MiCA authorisation through its Malta entity.
MEXC appears on ESMA's register of entities providing crypto-asset services in breach of MiCA.

Is MEXC cheaper than Crypto.com for spot trading?
On published rates, yes.
A 500 dollar taker trade costs 0.25 dollars on MEXC against 2.50 dollars on Crypto.com Exchange at Level 1 and 4.00 dollars through the Crypto.com App in the EEA.

How long does a transfer off Crypto.com take?
Crypto.com's published estimate is 2 to 3 hours from request for a crypto withdrawal to an external address.
Euro withdrawals over SEPA are stated as 3 to 5 working days for review plus 1 to 2 working days to transfer.
