Bybit charges VIP 0 users 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker on spot crypto pairs, 0.020% maker and 0.055% taker on perpetual and futures contracts, and 0.020% maker and 0.030% taker on options, per its help center as of 2 September 2026, while fiat pairs, xStocks and pre-market perpetuals carry separate, higher schedules.
Key Takeaways
Bybit's entry-level spot rate is a flat 0.10% for both makers and takers, and it only drops once you reach VIP 1 by holding 100,000 USD on the platform or trading 1,000,000 USD of spot in 30 days.
Perpetual and futures contracts cost 0.020% maker and 0.055% taker at VIP 0, with no liquidation fee on those contracts.
Bybit's Special Trading Zones charge more than the headline rate: fiat pairs at 0.20% taker, Adventure Zone and xStocks at 0.20% on both sides, pre-market perpetuals at 0.10% taker and Innovation Zone perpetuals at 0.11% taker.
Paying fees in MNT cuts spot fees by 25% and futures fees by 10%, but the discount is not available on API orders, bots, copy trading or inverse contracts.
Crypto deposits and internal transfers are free, while on-chain withdrawals carry a fixed per-coin fee that Bybit says it sets higher than other platforms to buy faster confirmations.
Bybit EU runs a separate schedule at 0.25% taker and 0.10% maker on spot, and from 5 October 2026 it moves to one rate per tier, 0.25% for VIP 0 accounts below 100,000 EUR in 30-day volume.
Most Bybit fee guides stop at the first table on the exchange's fee page.
That table is accurate, but the same help-center page holds three more tables covering fiat pairs, xStocks and pre-market contracts, and every one of them charges more than the headline rate.
The trading fee is also only the first of three costs you pay to get money in, trade it and take it out again.
The second layer is the conversion cost embedded in card purchases and quoted swaps, and the third is the fixed on-chain withdrawal fee.
None of the guides we reviewed adds those layers up for a single order, so the number people remember tends to be the smallest one on the page.
This guide takes every rate from Bybit's own help center, stamps each with its retrieval date, and runs one 1,000 USD order through every zone so you can see what each choice costs before you place it.
Every figure below was checked against Bybit's published schedule on 8 September 2026, and Bybit itself notes that the rate applied to your account can vary by region.
Spot trading on crypto-to-crypto pairs follows the maker-taker model that most centralized exchanges use.
A maker order rests in the order book and adds liquidity, while a taker order fills immediately against existing orders and removes it.
At VIP 0, Bybit charges the same 0.10% whether you make or take, which means a limit order that waits for its price gives you no discount over a market order.
The maker discount only appears from VIP 1, where the maker rate drops to 0.0675% while the taker rate falls to 0.08%.
VIP level | Spot taker | Spot maker | Perpetual and futures taker | Perpetual and futures maker | Options taker | Options maker |
VIP 0 | 0.1000% | 0.1000% | 0.0550% | 0.0200% | 0.0300% | 0.0200% |

Data verified as of 8 September 2026 against Bybit's help center page "Bybit Trading Fee Structure", last updated 2 September 2026. Rates apply to the global platform and can vary by region.
Derivatives are where Bybit built its reputation, and the fee split is wider than on spot.
A VIP 0 trader pays 0.020% to post a resting order and 0.055% to fill against the book, so a round trip executed entirely as a taker costs 0.11% of the position's notional value.
The fee is charged on the filled notional, not on your margin, which is why a 10x position costs ten times the fee of an unleveraged spot order of the same size.
Bybit does not charge a liquidation fee on perpetual and futures contracts, a detail its fee overview states directly.
Funding payments are exchanged between long and short holders at intervals that differ by symbol, and Bybit does not collect them as revenue.
Options carry the lowest published rates on the platform, at 0.020% maker and 0.030% taker for VIP 0.
Bybit does charge a 0.2% liquidation fee on options positions, alongside a 2% liquidation fee on spot margin and crypto loan positions.
Options fills that are too small relative to the underlying price are excluded from VIP volume calculations, so tiny option trades will not move you up the ladder.
This is the layer many guides skip, and it is where an ordinary trade can quietly cost double.
Bybit's fee page lists four zones with their own schedules, and every VIP 0 rate in them is above the 0.10% headline.
Zone | What trades there | VIP 0 maker | VIP 0 taker |
Fiat-crypto spot pairs | Pairs quoted in EUR, USD and other fiat currencies | 0.15% | 0.20% |
Spot Adventure Zone and xStocks | Newly listed higher-risk tokens and tokenized stocks | 0.20% | 0.20% |
Pre-market perpetuals | Contracts on tokens that have not yet listed | 0.04% | 0.10% |
Innovation Zone perpetuals | Contracts on early-stage or thinly traded tokens | 0.04% | 0.11% |
Data verified as of 8 September 2026 against Bybit's help center page "Bybit Trading Fee Structure", last updated 2 September 2026. Fiat pair rates shown are the VIP 0 tier below 100,000 USD in 30-day spot volume; the taker rate steps down to 0.12% above 550,000 USD.
The fiat pair rule catches people who buy Bitcoin with euros directly on the order book, because BTC/EUR is billed at double the BTC/USDT rate.
The Adventure Zone rule catches new-listing hunters, since the tokens most likely to draw them in are exactly the ones billed at 0.20% on both sides.
The xStocks rule matters for anyone using Bybit to trade tokenized shares, where the 0.20% flat rate applies before any spread.
Bybit assigns a VIP level from either your asset balance or your 30-day trading volume, and you only need to meet one of the two.
VIP 1 requires 100,000 USD in assets, or 1,000,000 USD in 30-day spot volume, or 10,000,000 USD in derivatives volume, or 5,000,000 USD in options volume.
The level is refreshed daily at 07:00 UTC, subaccounts inherit the main account's rate, and the rate applied to an order is the one in force when the order is placed.
Two exclusions matter for anyone counting on volume to climb.
Spot trades executed at zero fees do not count toward spot volume, and funding payments do not count toward derivatives volume.
For a retail trader moving 10,000 USD a month through spot, the volume route to VIP 1 is a hundred times out of reach, so the balance route is the realistic one.
Paying fees in MNT gives 25% off spot fees and 10% off futures fees, applied on top of your VIP rate.
For a VIP 0 account that means 0.0750% on spot for both sides and 0.0180% maker with 0.0495% taker on futures.
The switch has to be enabled separately for spot and for futures, and separately again for each subaccount, and only MNT held in the Unified Trading Account is used.
The discount does not apply to API orders, trading bots, copy trading followers, RFQ orders, liquidation orders or inverse contracts, which rules out most automated strategies.
If your MNT balance cannot cover the whole fee at fill time, the fee is charged in the settlement coin at the full rate with no partial discount.
Buying crypto with a card through Bybit's Buy Crypto route carries transaction fees charged by the payment provider, which depend on the currency and payment method and are shown on the order page before you confirm.
Peer-to-peer trading is the exception, with no fee charged to either the buyer or the seller, although the payment provider you settle through may charge its own.
Fiat deposits and fiat withdrawals have their own fee tables that vary by currency and method, and Bybit only surfaces them once you select a currency inside the deposit or withdrawal page.
The practical rule is simple: any route that quotes you a single all-in price is charging you inside that price, and the order book is the only place where the fee is a separate line.
Bybit charges no fee on crypto deposits or on internal transfers between Bybit accounts.
On-chain withdrawals carry a fixed fee that depends on the coin and the chain, and the fee is the same whether you withdraw 50 USDT or 50,000 USDT.
By default the fee is deducted from the amount you enter, and you can switch the setting so the amount you enter is the amount that arrives.
Bybit's own withdrawal FAQ states that it sets its withdrawal fees relatively higher than other platforms and dynamically raises the miner fee on batch transfers to secure faster confirmation.
That is an honest trade-off, but it means the cheapest route off Bybit is often an internal transfer to another Bybit user rather than an on-chain withdrawal.
Users cannot set their own withdrawal fee, and instant withdrawals are processed within 15 minutes in normal network conditions.
The fastest way to feel the zones is to push the same order through each of them.
The table below takes one 1,000 USD fill at VIP 0 rates and shows the fee in dollars, taker side unless stated.
Order | Rate applied | Fee on 1,000 USD |
Spot crypto pair, limit order that rests (maker) | 0.1000%
| 1.00 USD |
Spot crypto pair, market order (taker) | 0.1000% | 1.00 USD |
Spot crypto pair, market order, fee paid in MNT | 0.0750%
| 0.75 USD |
Spot fiat pair such as BTC/EUR, market order | 0.2000%
| 2.00 USD |
Adventure Zone or xStocks, market order | 0.2000% | 2.00 USD |
Standard perpetual, market order, one side | 0.0550% | 0.55 USD |
Standard perpetual, market open and market close | 0.1100% combined | 1.10 USD |
Pre-market perpetual, market order, one side | 0.1000% | 1.00 USD |
Innovation Zone perpetual, market order, one side | 0.1100% | 1.10 USD |
Data verified as of 8 September 2026 against Bybit's help center pages "Bybit Trading Fee Structure" (updated 2 September 2026) and "FAQ, Paying Trading Fees with MNT" (updated 30 March 2026). Withdrawal fees and conversion spreads are additional and depend on coin, chain and payment route.
The spread between the cheapest and most expensive zone on the same order is 1.45 USD, which is nearly three times the fee on a standard perpetual fill.
That gap is invisible in the headline rate and only shows up when you check which zone a pair belongs to before you trade it.
Bybit's VIP 0 spot taker rate of 0.10% is a level several other large exchanges also publish for entry-level accounts, and our 12-exchange fee comparison shows where each one sits.
Where it stands out is the reach of the VIP ladder, because a 100,000 USD balance alone unlocks VIP 1 without any trading volume.
Where it falls behind is the maker side, since MEXC publishes 0.0000% on spot maker orders and the difference is the entire fee.
For traders who want to know which platforms are zero on every line rather than just the maker line, our guide to zero-fee crypto exchanges checks eight fee schedules line by line.
Bybit serves the European Economic Area through Bybit EU, and its published fee schedule is different from the global one.
At VIP 0, Bybit EU charges 0.25% taker and 0.10% maker on spot crypto pairs, and 0.25% taker with 0.15% maker on fiat pairs, with the taker rate stepping down only after 100,000 EUR in 30-day volume.
The EU page states that from 5 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC which for a VIP 0 account below 100,000 EUR in 30-day volume is 0.25% on every fill.
That change removes the maker discount for EU users, so an EU trader who relied on 0.10% resting orders will pay 0.25% on them from that date.
The published EU schedule covers spot and spot margin, and readers in the EEA should treat the global tables above as informational only.
Data verified as of 8 September 2026 against Bybit EU's help center page "Bybit EU Trading Fee Structure", last updated 4 August 2026.
The pain point in the opening was a rate that looks small until it is multiplied by a year of orders, so here is the multiplication.
MEXC's standard schedule is 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker on spot, and 0.010% maker and 0.040% taker on standard futures contracts, with BTCUSDT perpetuals on a special rate of 0.000% maker and 0.020% taker.
The MX deduction takes the MEXC spot taker rate to 0.0400%.
Order type, 1,000 USD fill | Bybit VIP 0 fee | MEXC standard fee | Gap on this order |
Spot maker | 1.00 USD | 0.00 USD | 1.00 USD |
Spot taker | 1.00 USD | 0.50 USD (0.40 USD with MX deduction) | 0.50 USD |
Standard perpetual maker | 0.20 USD | 0.10 USD (0.00 USD on BTCUSDT) | 0.10 USD |
Standard perpetual taker | 0.55 USD | 0.40 USD (0.20 USD on BTCUSDT) | 0.15 USD |
Data verified as of 8 September 2026 against Bybit's help center "Bybit Trading Fee Structure" (updated 2 September 2026) and MEXC's official fee page at mexc.com/fee. Gap column uses the MEXC standard rate; the MX deduction and the BTCUSDT special rate widen it further. Now scale the order to a modest year of trading.
A trader who fills 10,000 USD of spot per month as a taker pays Bybit 120 USD a year at VIP 0, 90 USD a year with MNT enabled, and 60 USD a year on MEXC, or 48 USD with the MX deduction.
The same trader using resting limit orders pays Bybit the same 120 USD, because the VIP 0 maker rate is also 0.10%, and pays MEXC nothing at all.
A trader who runs 100,000 USD of standard perpetual notional a month as a taker pays Bybit 660 USD a year, 594 USD with MNT, and 480 USD a year on MEXC, or 240 USD if the volume is in BTCUSDT.
The perpetual gap of 180 USD a year at standard rates, or 420 USD a year on BTCUSDT, is larger than the annual spot bill itself for most retail accounts.
Neither of those volumes gets a trader anywhere near Bybit's VIP 1 threshold, so the VIP 0 rate is the rate that applies for the whole year.
If your order flow looks like either of those profiles and you can open an account in your region, the difference is worth a quick comparison of your own fee history.
We work for MEXC, so read this section knowing where we stand.
On the numbers above, MEXC is cheaper than Bybit on every standard spot and perpetual line at entry level, and the maker gap on spot is the whole fee.
That is the case we would make, and here is where it stops.
MEXC futures orders placed through the API are billed at 0.060% maker and 0.080% taker from 1 June 2026, which is above Bybit's 0.020% and 0.055% VIP 0 rate, so an API or bot trader is cheaper on Bybit at entry level.
Bybit's VIP ladder can be reached on balance alone, and a trader holding 100,000 USD gets VIP 1 rates on day one.
Bybit publishes fiat pairs, options and a card, and this comparison does not cover those products.
Bybit's withdrawal-fee policy buys confirmation speed, and a trader who values that will accept the higher fixed fee.
If your trading is manual, your orders are mostly resting limits, and your region allows both platforms, MEXC's schedule wins on cost.
If your orders come from an API, or you need fiat pairs or options in the same account, or you live in the EEA, Bybit's schedule is the one to compare against.
Bybit's schedule serves a derivatives trader who values liquidity and product range over the last few basis points, and a balance-rich account that unlocks VIP 1 without volume.
It serves an EEA resident, since Bybit EU serves that region and MEXC no longer does, and it serves a trader who wants options and fiat pairs in the same account.
It does not serve a spot trader who works with resting limit orders, because that trader pays 0.10% for liquidity that MEXC's schedule prices at 0.0000%.
It does not serve a small account that will never leave VIP 0, because the flat 0.10% rate never falls for that trader.
Bybit's Service Agreement excludes the United States, Canada, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore among its listed jurisdictions, so residents there cannot open a global Bybit account.
If you are in any of those places, treat this article as a fee reference and choose a platform licensed where you live.
