The Israeli strike on an Iranian Revolutionary Guard headquarters in Tehran has traders reassessing the implications for US forces entering Iran. The odds for US troops entering Iran by April 30 sit at 52% YES, down from 57% yesterday.

Traders expect further escalation following Israel’s deep strike on a core IRGC command node. The April 30 market is a coin flip at 52% YES, with a 4-point drop at 3:15 PM. The December 31 market sits at 64% YES, indicating expectations for prolonged tension. Traders anticipate a catalyst between April and December, given the 12-point jump over this period.

The Iranian regime’s stability is also under scrutiny. The June 30 market for regime fall is at 10% YES, down from 12% yesterday, suggesting skepticism about immediate regime collapse. The strike’s impact on Iran’s command-and-control systems raises questions about long-term regime stability, though market odds show traders aren’t expecting an imminent fall.

Trading volume across these markets shows cautious but active engagement. The US forces market sees volume at $2.58M daily, with $37,215 required to move prices 5 points, indicating robust liquidity. The largest price move was a 4-point drop, reflecting quick reactions to escalation news. The Iranian regime market is thinner, with $124,433 traded daily and $26,300 needed to nudge prices 5 points, making it susceptible to larger swings from individual trades.

This strike is part of a larger pattern of escalation and retaliation, making traders wary of sudden developments. At 52¢, a YES share on US forces entering Iran by April 30 pays $1 if it resolves, a near 2x return. For this bet to work, traders need more than just airstrikes — they’d need to see signs of ground operations or significant troop movements in the coming weeks.

Key indicators to watch include shifts in US military posture or statements from CENTCOM and Pentagon officials. Any announcement of ground operations or increased troop deployments would likely impact these markets significantly.

Digital asset custodian BDACS has launched KRW1, South Korea’s first fully regulated won-backed stablecoin, in partnership with Woori Bank. The announcement follows completion of a proof of concept validating technical infrastructure spanning fiat deposits, token issuance, and blockchain verification, as per a Thursday press release. Each KRW1 token maintains full collateralization through South Korean won held in escrow at Woori Bank, with real-time banking API integration providing transparent proof of reserves, according to BDACS’ statement. The company trademarked the KRW1 brand in December 2023, building infrastructure before the advent of formal regulations. KRW1 launched on the Avalanche blockchain, chosen for its “high-performance capabilities” and recognition by Korea’s Internet & Security Agency for “reliability in public-sector applications.” “The successful test pilot of KRW1 demonstrates the need for a highly-performant and reliable blockchain tailored for a regulatory-compliant stablecoin,” Justin Kim, Head of Asia at Ava Labs, said in the statement. BDACS envisions KRW1 serving remittances, payments, investments, and deposits, with public-sector deployment planned for low-cost payment and settlement systems in emergency relief disbursements. The company plans to expand KRW1 to additional blockchains and explore collaborations with global stablecoin networks, including potential partnerships with USD-backed issuers Circle and Tether, according to the press release.
