3-time Trump-voting MAGA musician: 'Demented' president is a 'psychopath'

In recent years, the Thomas Paine Band has written songs declaring loyalty to President Donald Trump with titles like “M.A.G.A. We Love the U.S.A.” But now, Trump’s actions in regard to Iran have the act asserting that he is a “demented” “psychopath” turned “dictator.”

The band posted this assertion above a retweet from ABC reporter Rachel Scott, in which she revealed that in conversation with Trump, the president had suggested that he’s “blowing up the whole country” if the Iranian regime fails to make a deal. According to Scott, when asked if anything was “off limits,” Trump said “very little.” As it has been widely reported, these and other statements from the president amount to threats to commit war crimes.

This, for many Trump supporters, has crossed a line.

“Every time Trump ran for President I voted for him,” wrote the Thomas Paine Band. “But now Trump is either a psychopath, demented, blackmailed or under threat from the Netanyahu regime…Trump went from ‘freeing the people of Iran’ to threatening to kill 93 million civilians. War time is a serious and somber time. It's not the time for the President to s—— post and suddenly be the dictator Democrats accused him of being for all of these years.”

The band, which once sang, “You’re on the Trump train — peace, love, and a strong defense,” is not alone in its disgust at the president’s actions. High-profile figures from the MAGA movement like Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ann Coulter have come out against the war. MAGA comedians, musicians and other influencers are wondering, “What was I thinking?” And even Trump’s own former officials have expressed dismay about the president’s administration.

Many supported Trump previously due to his assertions that his “America First” stance would keep the U.S. out of more Middle Eastern quagmires, but as he wades the country deeper into conflict with Iran, he is losing voters who have remained loyal for a decade now.

“Why do you think Trump,” asked the Thomas Paine Band, “is suddenly doing the opposite of what he promised his voters?”
