A bipartisan immigration reform bill gaining House sponsors has pitted some MAGA lawmakers against each other in open warfare.

The DIGNIDAD (Dignity) Act, sponsored by Reps. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) and Veronica Escobar (D-TX), contains a balanced package of immigration priorities for both parties, toughening up border security and requiring all employers use the E-Verify system to screen workers for legal status, while also creating a pathway to legal residency, protections for "Dreamers," higher visa caps, and legal counsel and mental health care for detainees in border processing facilities.

Salazar is one of the most outspoken Trump supporters to represent a heavily Hispanic congressional district — but she has found herself at odds with some other pro-Trump lawmakers for her sponsorship of the Dignity Act.

"The Dignity Act is mass amnesty and would constitute a terrible betrayal of our voters," far-right Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) posted to X on Tuesday.

Salazar fiercely hit back in response.

"READ. THE. BILL. BEFORE. YOU. OPEN. YOUR. MOUTH," wrote Salazar. "Calling the DIGNITY Act 'amnesty' isn’t just wrong. It’s a deliberate distortion and it exposes just how little you know about the bill."

"This is enforcement first: zero tolerance for criminals, permanent border security, and hard, earned requirements to step forward and face the law, so American workers are protected, not undercut," she continued. "Amnesty is the chaos you’ve defended, millions in the shadows, no control, no accountability, and a system that stopped working a long time ago. No shortcuts. No giveaways. No blanket forgiveness. That’s law and order. That’s DIGNITY."

This comes as Salazar has increasingly been warning Trump that recent election results showing the GOP hemorrhaging Latino voters are only going to get worse if the party doesn't find a way to moderate from the administration's mass deportation policies.

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday night that "authorities" are investigating CNN for allegedly publishing a "false" statement from the Iranian regime.

Trump announced that Iran and the U.S. had agreed to a two-week ceasefire agreement in a Truth Social post on Tuesday. CNN reported that Iran had claimed it achieved a "great victory" in the conflict, and that the country had forced Trump to relent and lift all sanctions against Iran.

Trump lashed out at CNN in a new Truth Social post and claimed that "authorities" had opened an investigation into the outlet for publishing the remarks.

"The alleged Statement put out by CNN World News is a FRAUD, as CNN well knows," Trump wrote. "The false Statement was linked to a Fake News site (from Nigeria) and, of course, immediately picked up by CNN, and blared out as a “legitimate” headline. The Official Statement by Iran was just released, and posted on TRUTH, below."

"Authorities are looking to determine whether or not a crime was committed on the issuance of the Fake CNN World Statement, or was it a sick rogue player?" he added. "CNN is being ordered to immediately withdraw this Statement with full apologies for their, as usual, terrible 'reporting.' Results of the investigation will be announced in the near future."

President Donald Trump's threats to obliterate Iran with a total bombing campaign drew fierce condemnation from Pope Leo XIV on Tuesday, who proclaimed, “This is truly not acceptable. Here there are certainly questions of international law, but even more than this a question of morality for the good of people,” and that “attacks on civilian infrastructure are against international law, but it is also against sign of the hatred and division that we are capable of.”

Not long after this repudiation, Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran that at least delays this threat.

The Pope's commentary drew immediate fury from some MAGA commentators, with right-wing personality Mike Cernovich fuming, "Has the Pope told the Council of Bishops and Catholic Charities [sic] to stop destroying my country via mass migration and welfare fraud? Has he ever stated that immigration fraud is a sin?"

Others, however, lauded the Pope's moral stance.

"This is the American that embodies our best values and ideals. Not the man in the White House," wrote conservative New York Times columnist David French. "I am grateful that the world can see a very different side of the American people through his faithful witness."

"The Holy Father speaks decisively and with a clear and rare sense of outrage at Trump’s vile threat," wrote UnHerd editor Sohrab Amari.

"I feel fully represented by the Holy Father’s words," wrote University College London doctoral researcher Gonzalo Banda. "This is a moral line we must not cross. Threatening to obliterate a nation is abominable."

"Truly remarkable that a guy who few heard of a year ago, and never sought this, has taken on the role of not just the moral voice one ought to expect of the papacy but a national icon to whom Americans turn their lonely eyes," wrote Sacred Heart University Professor of Catholic Studies Daniel Rober.

"In condemning deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure, Pope Leo simply reiterates longstanding Catholic just war teaching, just as Catholics who defend Trump manifestly dissent from it," wrote Pasadena City College philosophy professor Edward Feser. "This is not remotely complicated for Catholics who put their religion ahead of politics."

Political analysts and observers were taken aback on Tuesday after the initial details of President Donald Trump's announced ceasefire with Iran were released.

The New York Times reported that some of the ceasefire provisions include the U.S. agreeing not to attack Iran again and lifting all sanctions on Iranian oil, including those that were put in place by George W. Bush's administration. The details emerged after Trump announced Iran and the U.S. had agreed to a two-week ceasefire just an hour ahead of Trump's self-imposed deadline to reach a deal.

Political analysts and observers reacted to the ceasefire on social media.

"Wow. The biggest disaster of a president ever!" former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger posted on X.

"Putin smiles," investigative journalist Scott Stedman posted on X.

"I’m definitely glad there is a ceasefire, but … it sounds like we lost?" Josh Schwerin, founder of Saratoga Strategies, posted on X.
