'Hanging up my MAGA hat': Trump skewered by own supporters after 'declaring war' on base

President Donald Trump lashed out at several prominent right-wing figures Thursday over their criticisms of his administration’s chaotic war against Iran, and in the process, sparked a wave of outrage from some of his most loyal supporters.

Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump called out Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens and Alex Jones for having criticized his administration’s war against Iran, calling them “low IQ” and “stupid people.” His attack was not well received by a number of his supporters, including multiple Truth Social users who claimed to have voted for Trump three times.

“As of last week, they’ve done nothing but make excuses for your behavior and you think they’re the enemy?” wrote Truth Social user “Misty Fields,” who claimed to be a three-time Trump voter. “They are why I am a triple Trumper! Whoever is telling you this is very wrong!”

Truth Social user “Deportation News,” who also claimed to have voted for Trump three times, argued that the president’s attack on Carlson, Owens and other prominent figures within the MAGA movement was done out of frustration over scandals that have plagued his presidency.

“Trump just going against everyone that fought for him to win, just because of the [Jeffrey] Epstein files and being at war with Iran for Israel,” they wrote. “They didn’t leave MAGA, MAGA left them. MAGA left me too, so sad to see. You had so much potential, Trump. Voted for you all three times, and I feel so betrayed.”

And Truth Social user "CaliMAGA69," who describes themselves as a "proud deplorable" – a reference to former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" remark – said that they would be "hanging up" their MAGA hat signed by Trump himself.

"You are way outta line. Most of these people, especially Alex Jones, have been your 'Day 1's'!" they wrote. "You need to step back and take a good hard look at who is whispering in your ear. Get back to 'America 1st'! I've personally put up with years of abuse from the wack jobs out here in [California] for showing my support of you. But after this, I'm hanging up my red MAGA hat you signed. Get right Trump!"

Liberal influencer Micah Erfan, who’s worked directly with the Democratic Party, argued early Friday morning that Trump’s strategy of attacking such prominent MAGA figures was not only misguided, but a sign that the MAGA movement itself was reaching its end point.
