Republican Senate majority risk grows due to Trump's mayhem: analysts

The political map could shift dramatically in Democrats' favor — and Republicans are panicking, according to reports on Monday.

New polling from The Cook Political Report just moved four critical Senate races toward blue, signaling a potential Democratic tsunami that could flip control of the chamber this fall, The Daily Beast reported.

The stunning reversal comes as Americans grow increasingly fed up with President Donald Trump's erratic leadership, the ongoing Iran war he launched, and a government stuck in partial shutdown limbo. Voters are angry, and it's showing up in the polls.

Even Trump's strongholds are turning purple. North Carolina and Georgia, states Trump won decisively in 2024, have shifted from "Toss Up" to "Lean Democrat," according to the new polling results. Former Gov. Roy Cooper is dominating Trump-backed Republican Matt Whatley in North Carolina, while Democrats are raking in record cash in Georgia to challenge Sen. Jon Ossoff's seat.

In Ohio, Democrat Sherrod Brown, ousted in 2024, is mounting a comeback against appointed Sen. Jon Husted in a race that's now dead even. Republicans are so terrified they're dumping $79 million into Ohio alone, more than any other state.

Democrats need just four seats to retake the Senate, and momentum is building. A Democrat recently flipped a Georgia district previously held by MAGA firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene, and a Democratic-backed judge cruised to a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat.
