Corrections Policy

AlterNet endeavors to promptly correct all substantive errors of fact. To report a correction, please email [email protected]. Typographical errors can also be sent to this address.

For typographical errors, numerical, grammar or minor factual corrections, AlterNet will generally update the article without notation. For corrections to or the addition of substantive facts that meaningfully change the story, a correction notice may be placed at the end of the article after the story has been updated. Corrections and corrected articles are linked from the "Corrections" menu on the AlterNet homepage.

Fact-Checking Policy

AlterNet strives for 100% accuracy in headlines and news reports. Reporters aim to be precise with all headlines and statements. This includes identifying information such as names and positions as well as factual statements and quotations. Reporters conduct their own fact checking using their own judgment. Editorial employees’ outside activities and involvement are guided by the ethics policy.
Initial reports sometimes change. AlterNet works to update any article with new facts, and aims to correct headlines that no longer represent present circumstances. Because of the frequency of breaking news events, some articles may not be updated, since they are often supplemented by new articles. Ethics Policy

AlterNet expects all employees to engage in ethical behavior and has guidelines for outside activities and political involvement.
Editorial employees are not allowed to donate to political campaigns or political action committees. Outside of working hours and without the use of any equipment or resources of AlterNet, they may attend political events, provided they are not financial contributors, speakers or official representatives.
