MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. says on Monday, April 20, that he will tap a “high-level” team to coordinate the repatriation of resigned lawmaker Zaldy Co to the Philippines from the Czech Republic, where he was arrested.
Marcos, who gives the update in a video posted on his Facebook page three days after Co’s arrest in the Czech Republic, says the Philippine government is following all the legal steps for Co’s return to the Philippines, where he faces graft and malversation of public funds cases stemming from flood control projects,
“Magpapadala rin ng high-level coordination team upang tutukan ito. Ang ganitong mga proseso ay may sinusunod na mga legal na hakbang sa pagitan ng mga bansa. Kaya’t nangangailangan ng sapat na panahon upang maisagawa nang tama,” the President says.
(We will also send a high-level coordination team to focus on this. This process follows legal steps between countries. So enough time is needed to do this right.)
“We will bring Zaldy Co home, and we will do so in accordance with the law. He will answer to the Filipino people,” he adds.
