President Donald Trump's polling, along with the Republican Party at large, is a flashing danger sign for the president and his allies in the upcoming midterm elections, former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson told CNN's Kate Bolduan on Friday evening.
This comes amid new survey data that shows voters trust Democrats over Republicans on the economy for the first time in 16 years. It also follows another poll that says nearly one in three Republicans disapprove of Trump's job performance. This has even right-wing figures like Megyn Kelly pre-writing Trump's political obituary, proclaiming of Trump, "It's done. You're effed."

"Gretchen, do you see it as bad for the president and the Republican Party as she's painting it?" asked Bolduan.
Carlson confirmed. "I think it's Bad with a capital B."
The issue, she said, is "he's underwater in absolutely every category except border security, which is 53 to 47 percent with independents. He's underwater 55 points. There's been almost a 60-point swing since he was re-elected just a year and a half ago. And that's no matter what any campaign says. Like we don't watch it. We look at trends. That is like a five-alarm fire. Well, that is a five because independents decide every election. We know that."
"I think if the election were held today with those numbers, Trump would have lost in a landslide, not won," she added. "And really, he just needs to look in the mirror because a lot of his ideas, a lot of Americans agree with. That's why he was re-elected. Immigration, the economy, his strong points. But his implementation of the plans is what has suffered. It's not necessarily the ideas. It's the way in which he goes about it, which has been a failure."
