Saudi Arabia’s export of dates rose by more than 14 percent annually to almost SAR2 billion ($533 million) in 2025.
Exports have risen almost 60 percent since 2021, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported.
Part of the country’s Vision 2030 plan to diversify the economy is to increase the agricultural sector’s contribution to GDP.
The kingdom exports dates to over 125 countries, with production volume exceeding 1.9 million tonnes from more than 37 million palm trees in 2025.
In July 2023 the Public Investment Fund established Al Madinah Heritage Company to improve the production capacity of Ajwa dates in the Madinah region and expand their global market presence.
The worldwide dates market in 2026 is estimated at $31.39 billion, increasing from last year’s $29.33 billion. The forecast for 2031 is $44.07 billion, growing at a 7.02 percent compound annual growth rate between 2026 and 2031, according to research by Mordor Intelligence.
