'Come again?' Kash Patel throws tantrum as Tim Walz takes credit for fraud investigation

FBI Director Kash Patel lashed out at Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) after the state official took credit for tipping federal officials off to possible fraud.

According to reports on Tuesday, FBI and Department of Homeland Security officers executed more than 20 search warrants on Somali-linked daycares and other businesses in Minnesota.

“Today, the FBI, with federal, state, and local law enforcement, is involved in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation," a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin.

In a statement posted to X, Walz explained that the "raids by state and federal law enforcement happened because our state agencies caught irregular behavior and reported it."

"That’s how the system is supposed to work, and our agencies will keep at it as long as there are fraudsters around to put behind bars," the governor added.

Patel responded by complaining that Walz had taken credit for the law enforcement action.

"Come again?" the FBI director snapped. "This FBI and DOJ with our DHS partners drafted and executed every search warrant today. But go ahead and take credit for our work while we smoke out the fraud plaguing Minnesota under your governorship."

Patel, however, never denied that reports from state officials had initiated the investigation.
