MANILA, Philippines – Filipino active transport advocacy group Move as One Coalition recently won the grand prize for the 2025–2026 World Resources Institute Ross Center Prize for Cities.

“This year’s winner is recognized for turning everyday frustration into collective action — bringing together commuters and transport workers to push for changes that are making daily journeys safer, more reliable and less uncertain for millions,” WRI said in its announcement.

In this interview, we talk to Reycel Hyacenth Bendaña, national coordinator of Move As One Coalition on the significance of a grassroots movement being recognized internationally. Bendaña talks about the growing rejection of car-centric cities and the problems their expanding network faces.
