US President Donald Trump is reportedly set to officially inaugurate Kevin Warsh, his chosen candidate for the Federal Reserve chairmanship, at a ceremony on Friday.

A White House official told CNBC that the swearing-in ceremony would take place at the White House.

Warsh’s appointment will be the final step in a process that began in the summer of 2025 and concluded last week with a largely partisan vote in the Senate. He will officially succeed Jerome Powell, whose term ended on Friday. Warsh will serve in an interim capacity until he officially takes office.

Kevin Warsh, 56, became the 11th chairman in modern Fed history and, according to publicly disclosed financial documents, is also notable as the wealthiest chairman in Fed history. Warsh will need to divest a significant portion of his portfolio of substantial investments to comply with new ethical and regulatory rules for Fed officials.

The ceremony also holds symbolic importance for Trump. When nominating Warsh, Trump explicitly stated his expectation that the post-Powell Fed administration would resume interest rate cuts. The Fed had already implemented three interest rate cuts by 2025.

However, the prevailing view in the markets is that high inflation and a strong labor market will make it difficult for the Fed to implement further interest rate cuts in the short term. Analysts believe that further easing measures may be limited until strong evidence emerges that price increases have once again slowed towards the Fed’s 2 percent target level. During Jerome Powell’s tenure, the Fed failed to meet its inflation target for more than five consecutive years.
