Trump proposes the U.S., China and Russia target the ICC, reports the Financial Times

According to the Financial Times, President Donald Trump suggested the United States, China, and Russia "co-operate against the International Criminal Court," or ICC.

The ICC is the only intergovernmental organization with the authority to prosecute individuals for genocide and crimes against humanity.

The Financial Times cited what it described as “several people familiar with the U.S. assessment” of the summit that took place last week in Beijing.

Critics theorized the proposal was made at the behest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who currently has an ICC arrest warrant for crimes against humanity, including "using starvation as a method of warfare" in Gaza.

The ICC issued Netanyahu's warrant in November 2024, in response to Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza following the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas.

As of Monday, the Israel Defense Forces or IDF, have killed at least 72,769 Gazans, predominantly women, children, and elderly according to Gaza's Health Ministry and The Lancet.

The actual death toll may be significantly higher, with exact counts difficult to record as Israel prohibits international journalists from entering Gaza and targets local press.
