TLDR

  • Oura Ring 5 is 40% smaller than its predecessor, launching June 4 starting at $399
  • Battery life extends to one full week; a portable charging case sells separately for $99
  • New Health Radar feature monitors blood pressure patterns during sleep and nighttime breathing
  • Oura partnered with Counsel Health to offer AI-enabled virtual care in 43 U.S. states
  • Oura has filed a draft IPO prospectus and is on track to surpass 5 million paid members this quarter

Oura announced the Ring 5 on Thursday, calling it the smallest smart ring available from any company. The new device is 40% smaller than the Oura Ring 4, shrinking in thickness from 3.5mm to 2.8mm and in width from 7.9mm to 6mm.

The ring is made from nonallergenic titanium and is designed to look like a plain ring. Oura says the redesigned sensing architecture uses more powerful LEDs and 12 stronger signal pathways for more accurate readings across different skin tones and finger types.

Preorders are open now, with shipping starting June 4. Base finishes in silver and black start at $399, while premium finishes like gold and brushed silver are priced at $499.

New Health Features Across the Platform

The Ring 5 comes with several new health tracking tools, most of which will also work on Oura Ring generation 3 and 4 devices.

The updated Health Radar feature monitors biometric signals like body temperature and respiratory rate. It now includes blood pressure pattern tracking during sleep, which Oura says can detect early warning signs of cardiovascular risk.

A new Nighttime Breathing feature reviews a rolling 30-day window of sleep breathing patterns. It flags disturbances and can prompt users to consult a health professional if needed.

Oura also added GLP-1 Insights for users taking weight-loss medications. The feature lets users log dose schedules, track side effects, and monitor weight changes alongside their ring’s biometric data.

Fitness Tracking and Healthcare Access

Live activity tracking is now built into the Oura app. Users can start a workout and see real-time metrics like pace, distance, and heart rate through lock screen widgets. The feature supports third-party heart rate monitors as well.

Oura has partnered with on-demand healthcare platform Counsel Health to offer AI-enabled medical advice through the app. Users can ask health questions, get personalized guidance, and connect with licensed providers. The service will be available in 43 U.S. states at launch, with a fee per visit.

A new Health Records feature lets users import diagnosed conditions, medications, and lab results into the app, creating a single health record for those managing chronic conditions.

Battery life on the Ring 5 has been extended to one full week. A portable charging case, made from anodized aluminum, is available for $99 and holds up to one month of battery charge.

Company Growth and IPO Filing

Oura said it is on track to surpass five million paid members this quarter, a fourfold increase over two years. The company reported a 4x increase in total revenue over the same period.

Last October, Oura raised a $900 million Series E round, valuing it at $11 billion. It has raised more than $1.5 billion in total.

Last week, Oura confidentially filed a draft IPO prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company did not provide a timeline for going public.

CEO Tom Hale said last year the company could approach $2 billion in sales in 2026. The Ring 5 membership costs $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year and is FSA and HSA eligible.
