PharmaServ Express recently launched a unique consumer app that brings medicines directly to Filipino homes with just a tap on the smart phone.
The PharmaServ Express app uses its core specialty in cold chain logistics to deliver a promise to patients: that every medicine deserves to be delivered with care with full temperature control, real-time monitoring, and the assurance that what arrives at your door is exactly what your doctor prescribed. PharmaServ Express President Andrian Perez shares, “What we have built for healthcare institutions, we are now making available to every Filipino home. Providing logistics is one thing but delivering world-class service to our fellowmen is another thing. This app is our answer to problems that have gone unaddressed for too long—long lines at the pharmacy, incomplete medicines, drug products losing their potency before they ever reach the patient. We curated a system that is able to deliver whenever and wherever patients need their medicines, so they can focus on what matters most: getting well.”
In the recent Tech in Wellness Forum organized by Business World which carried the theme “Rethinking Healthcare Access in the Philippines”, Dr. Salvador Pedro Rebullida, PharmaServ Express Medical Director, noted on the positive turn in healthcare access which is slowly being bridged with the collaboration of both government and private sectors. “The (healthcare access) gap is slowly being bridged by the government, private institutions, and even health influencers….” He further reiterated that medicine access, in particular, is a serious global healthcare issue because it involves economics, healthcare infrastructure, and public health. And when it fails, the consequences involve the health of the citizens.
The PharmaServ Express app is a clear example of how that gap is being bridged by the private sector. The app currently offers a wide range of features from prescription fulfillment of medicines, medical devices and personal products, sourced from the patients’ drugstore of choice within Metro Manila and nearby areas; expert care from online pharmacists ensuring patients receive the right medicines every time, with professional guidance built into the platform; assurance of quality of each order, packed in temperature-controlled cold boxes and equipped with a data logger that tracks the temperature of medicines throughout the entire delivery journey.
Dr. Rebullida also highlighted in his interview a common misconception people have about medicine delivery – the perception that medicines are just like regular goods which could be transported via our regular delivery or courier service and that they can be stored like regular products in regular room temperature. “While there are some medicines which do not require special handling, a lot of medicines require strict temperature control or what we call ‘cold chain’, especially vaccines,” according to Dr. Rebullida. He raised the point that a small change in temperature for these types of medicines can make them ineffective. With e-commerce delivery apps which are specially designed for medicines like PharmaServ Express, that issue would be prevented.
The PharmaServ Express delivery app is currently operational within Metro Manila and in nearby areas in Rizal.
