THE World Bank has extended a $2-million grant that will fund a United Nations (UN)-led project aimed at supporting the reintegration of former soldiers in the Philippines.
In a disclosure on May 28, the World Bank said that the grant was funded by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development/International Development Association, which acts as administrator of the Bangsamoro Normalization Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
In particular, the grant will fund the UN Development Programme’s Unifying Pathways, Linkages and Inclusive Facilitation of Transformative Services for Decommissioned Combatants Project.
“The project development objective is to strengthen the information and case management systems for the delivery of reintegration interventions to decommissioned combatants of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front,” the World Bank said.
The project has four parts which include the establishment and operationalization of a management information system and the development of standardized case management system protocols and capacity building for the case managers of decommissioned combatants.
It also includes the delivery of socio-economic services to selected cooperative groups and beneficiaries and project management. — Justine Irish D. Tabile
