One night wine pairing at Morton’s The Steakhouse

MORTON’S The Steakhouse will be holding “Serata Italiana (An Italian Evening),” an exclusive, six-course wine pairing designed to transport guests straight to the vineyards of Italy. This will be held on June 4 only. Each course of this menu has been designed to highlight the unique flavor profiles and characteristics of the featured pairings and the quality of Morton’s food and wines. Borgo San Leo Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie IGT will be paired with Osterica, Calviale, Limone (Fresh oyster with caviar and a splash of lemon); Dolce & Gabbana Rosé Sicilia DOC Rosato Donnafugata will match Prosciutto, Burrata, Arugula, Balsamic; La Fuga Contessa Entellina Sicilia Donnafugata will be served with Lobster, Truffle, Basil; Masi Bonacosta Valpolicella Classico DOC will be paired with Lamb, Spinach, Marsala, Mint; and Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico DOCG will be matched with Beef, Potato, Carrot, Au Poivre. Marriott Hotel celebrates ube in June

MICHELIN-GUIDE-LISTED Manila Marriott Hotel at Newport World Resorts celebrates ube — purple yam — for whole month of June. The Marriott Café Bakery kicks things off by permanently adding to its premium cake selection a Burnt Basque ube cheesecake dubbed the “Kasen” Burnt Basque Ube Cheesecake, named after Kasen Abelgas, a 14-year-old content creator who promotes Filipino cuisine through his “Kasen Eats” YouTube channel. Abelgas collaborated with Marriott Manila’s Executive Pastry Chef Felinio Afable and Director of Culinary, Chef Meik Brammer, on this product. Meanwhile, the all-day dining restaurant Marriott Café, will have ube take over the dessert buffet spread during breakfast, lunch, and dinner in June. Pinoy flavors at Marriott Cebu Mactan

FAIRFIELD by Marriott Cebu Mactan’s newest dining spot is DAVOS, an all-day restaurant that launched on April 15. The name is inspired by the Cebuano word “dabos,” which means “abundance.” The restaurant gives a nod to Cebu’s rich marine biodiversity, offering authentic Filipino tastes and international favorites. Among its signature items are Shrimp Inasal, Beef and Mash, Crispy Pork Belly, Soy-glazed Grilled Chicken, and Ube Burnt Cheesecake. DAVOS is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, serving both hotel and walk-in guests. There is a Beer Hour when guests can enjoy unlimited beer cocktails (Summer Beer, Beer Mosa, or Shandy Beer served by the glass or pitcher) with one choice of savory pica pica (spiced chicken croquette, tokwa’t baboy, squid crackers, or French fries). There are special event nights scheduled which guests to enjoy: Beer Hour Acoustic Nights, 5-8 p.m., on June 13 and July 4; and Beer Hour Extension Trivia and Game Nights, 7-10 p.m., on July 12 and 17. Seafood 8 opens in August

SEAFOOD 8 will elevate the “dampa” concept — where the customer selects and buys raw, fresh seafood then have on-site kitchens prepare and cook the dishes according to their liking — for the mall all days of the week. This will be helmed by chef Oliver “Oli” Buenviaje who has been associated with Michelin multi-starred seafood restaurants. It’s planned as a 130-seater, with extensive aquarium displays for the live sea creatures, and beds of the fish, crustaceans, and shellfish on ice. One can opt to grill, or fry, or steam the selected menu items at the open kitchen. Seafood 8 by Olio’s is set to open its doors in August at Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City.

Chicken McDo has new offers

MCDONALD’S Philippines has launched two new Chicken McDo meals this month: one-piece Chicken McDo with Crispy Chicken Fillet and Drink, and one-piece Chicken McDo with Mushroom Pepper Steak and Drink. Both are priced starting at P158. Aside from the new offers, the regular Chicken McDo meals are still available including the one-piece Chicken McDo with rice and regular drink; the one-piece Chicken McDo with rice, regular drink, and Sundae Cone; as well as the one-piece Chicken McDo with rice and Coke McFloat. The new Chicken McDo offers are available via dine-in, take-out, drive-through, or delivery via McDelivery, GrabFood, and foodpanda.
