Budget Saudi, one of the largest vehicle leasing companies in the Middle East and North Africa, has confirmed that some customer data was leaked through its mobile application.

“The cybersecurity incident resulted in unauthorised access to a limited portion of the data of certain customers through the mobile app,” the company said in a statement to the Saudi stock exchange on Tuesday.

Cybersecurity protocols and technical measures were implemented immediately to contain the incident and limit any potential impact.

The company has launched an investigation and technical assessment, in coordination with government authorities, to determine the full scope of the incident.

No customer financial or banking information was compromised, Budget Saudi said, ruling out any impact of the cyberattack on its financials or operations.

All systems and business operations continue to run normally, it confirmed.

Budget Saudi has more than 29,000 vehicles in its fleet and an extensive network of 100 retail stations in 25 cities across the region, according to its LinkedIn profile.

The company reported a 58 percent year-on-year decline in net profit to SAR34 million ($9 million) in the first quarter of 2026.

The Saudi government has made digitalisation of the economy a major focus of its diversification efforts through the Digital Government Strategy, under which it claims to have digitalised at least 98 percent of government services.
