MANILA, Philippines – Authorities began demobilizing emergency responders in Angeles City after concluding retrieval and clearing operations at a collapsed building in Angeles City.
Thirty people died after the nine-story building under construction in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City collapsed on May 24. Among the dead are workers, a Malaysian and an infant.
“Following the unified command meeting convened by the Angeles City local government unit, which formally marked the conclusion of operational activities, participating agencies and responders commenced demobilization procedures,” an update from the Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Luzon said on Wednesday, June 10.
Citing the Department of Public Works and Highways, the local government said 95% of debris from the site were cleared.
Deployment of personnel will formally conclude formally “following eighteen days of continuous operation,” according to the local government. – Rappler.com
