KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the unity of Malaysia’s multi-racial, multi-religious and multi-cultural society forms a pillar of national strength and must be preserved for future generations.
He said that Malaysia’s diversity represented not only a national identity but also a valuable asset.
“Let us together continue to embrace diversity and strengthen unity for a more peaceful and prosperous Malaysia,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Earlier, Fadillah attended the opening ceremony of the National-Level Unity Week 2026 celebration, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Likas Sports Complex in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
He said the celebration, themed “Bersama Membina Negara Bangsa” served as an important platform for strengthening the spirit of unity, harmony and mutual respect among Malaysians.
“I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the vibrant atmosphere of the celebration, with people from various races, religions and backgrounds attending the event with their families.
“The warm and harmonious atmosphere on display today highlights how unity continues to be a pillar of our nation’s strength,” he said.
Fadillah also expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of National Unity, the Sabah state government, and all agencies and personnel who worked tirelessly to make the celebration a success.
He said the encouraging public participation reflected the people’s awareness of, and commitment to, strengthening the spirit of togetherness in the interest of national harmony. — Bernama
