PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested two married couples to assist in an investigation into the assault of a domestic worker at a home in Tampoi, Johor.
Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said the four suspects, aged 30 to 34, were arrested at about 7.30pm yesterday after four videos of the assault, which went viral, were detected by police.
Police confiscated several handphones and two passports belonging to the foreign women, who are believed to have worked as domestic workers for one of the couples, Berita Harian reported.
Based on the initial investigation, the incident is believed to have occurred on July 26 last year, but only went viral recently.
Rahaman said police are looking for two women, both foreigners in their 20s, to assist in the investigation.
He said the two women are believed to have been abused by the suspects, and had fled from their former employers, but may still be in the country.
“All four suspects do not have criminal records and they tested negative for drugs. A remand application will be made today,” he said.
The case is being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, use of criminal force to outrage a person’s modesty, improper use of network facilities, and unlawfully retaining another person’s passport.
