Coming soon: MACC cadet corps in schools

PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) cadet corps pilot project in schools will be launched soon as part of efforts to instill integrity in the next generation.

MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman said the initiative would begin in stages at selected schools before eventually expanding nationwide, Berita Harian reported.

The project will first involve a school in the Klang Valley and another in Terengganu before expanding to other states.

“Sabah and Sarawak could also potentially become strategic partners in this initiative,” he was quoted as saying.

He said education and awareness from a young age were key to shaping a generation that rejects corruption, and that efforts in this area must continue despite financial constraints and economic uncertainty.

He also urged MACC’s state chapters to expand their strategic partnerships with educational institutions and companies to hold more anti-corruption awareness programmes.
