PETALING JAYA: Unheralded Malaysian singles shuttler Eogene Ewe continued his fine run at the Macau Open by storming into the semi-finals with a convincing win over much higher-ranked Jason Teh of Singapore.
World No 80 shuttler Eogene, who had beaten two higher ranked players in the first two rounds, won 21-9, 21-19 against the 31st-ranked Singaporean in 39 minutes at the Macao East Asian Games Dome.
This will be Eogene’s first semi-final appearance at a World Tour Super 300 event.
In the last-four match tomorrow, Eogene will take on China’s Hu Zhe An.
Malaysia will have five representatives in the last four – Eogene, two men’s doubles pairs, and one pair each in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
