President Donald Trump has been seemingly weathering a barrage from all sides, according to a report from The Atlantic. He's faced mounting bipartisan criticism over the deal he struck with the Iranian regime. Meanwhile, inflation is up, and Trump's poll numbers are sinking among several key demographics. In turn, Republicans are fearing a "November wipeout," according to the report, as "Trump, whose political image revolves around strength, finds himself diminished."

But people around the president are singing a different tune, according to the report. They believe the war "won’t have much political staying power," the report noted. They also reportedly believe that recent Supreme Court decisions about cultural issues and the World Cup will overshadow Trump's war follies and help him change the subject.

“The midterms are months away,” one official told The Atlantic. “We’ll have lots of plot twists by then.”

Trump faces an uphill battle to change the subject, even with the help of his seemingly optimistic aides. After all, he's faced with a Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool project that has become an "on-the-nose metaphor for the state of his presidency" and a MAGA state fair that several big acts pulled out of because they found the booking invitation to be misleading.

"In the face of these struggles, Trump has continued to try to create his own reality," the report added.
