KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia started the day slightly higher, buoyed by bargain hunting in telecommunications and transportation counters.
At 9.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.82 points, or 0.10%, to 1,665.64 from Thursday’s close of 1,663.82.
The index opened 0.68 of a point higher at 1,664.50.
Market breadth was, however, negative, with decliners outpacing gainers 220 to 125. A total of 254 counters were unchanged, 2,144 untraded and 65 suspended.
Turnover amounted to 130.09 million shares valued at RM68.96 million.
