A few years ago, the idea of speaking to a doctor through your phone, ordering prescription medication online, booking a laboratory test from home or tracking your pregnancy with a mobile app felt almost impossible for many Nigerians. Today, it has become part of everyday life.

The growing confidence in healthtech did not happen overnight. It was built by founders who recognised some of Nigeria’s biggest healthcare challenges, such as limited access to doctors, long hospital queues, counterfeit medicines, poor diagnostic services and inadequate maternal healthcare and leveraged technology to offer better solutions.

According to TechCabal Insights’ State of Healthtech in Nigeria 2026 report, Nigeria now has 128 active healthtech startups. While 64 were launched between 2004 and 2019, another 64 emerged between 2020 and 2025, highlighting how rapidly digital healthcare expanded following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report also notes that although investment in the sector has fluctuated, peaking at $55 million in 2023 before dropping to $4 million in 2025, innovation has continued across telemedicine, digital pharmacies, diagnostics, electronic medical records and health management systems.

Behind many of these innovations are women who are not only building successful companies but also helping Nigerians trust healthcare beyond the four walls of hospitals.

By prioritising accessibility, patient-centred care and reliable digital experiences for women, here is a list of eight healthtech companies led by Nigerian women in 2026.
