MUAR, June 28 — The Ministry of Communications will mobilise teams from the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) to be more proactive in engaging with communities, including helping people take advantage of opportunities to generate income through the digital economy.

Its Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said the move is to ensure more people receive additional information and training through programmes provided by NADI.

“I will ask NADI teams to reach out and assist families to receive additional information and training, for example to become TikTok affiliates or sell products online.

“I also ask that NADI be proactive in going out, not merely waiting for people to come to NADI. This is what we are striving to achieve,” he told the Ziarah Kasih Madani Programme here today.

Earlier, Fahmi reached out to two families with children suffering from cerebral palsy, namely Muhammad Izz Muahnned Izwan, 11; and Luqman Al Hazim Mohammad Iman, 20.

The Madani Government spokesman said that outreach programmes such as Ziarah Kasih Madani provide him with the opportunity to see for himself welfare and development issues that needed immediate attention.

On the issue of Internet access, Fahmi said several projects are being carried out and are expected to be completed by the third quarter of this year, in line with plans made last year.

The Ziarah Kasih Madani Programme is an outreach initiative mobilised by the Information Department of Malaysia (JaPen) to engage with those in need, in addition to identifying the real issues and needs of local communities through collaboration with the Madani Community at the grassroots level.

The programme also serves as a platform to connect eligible recipients with relevant agencies, thus enablling assistance and interventions to be delivered more effectively. — Bernama
