KUALA LUMPUR: Six students of a Mara junior science college in Johor will be expelled if found guilty of bullying a fellow student, Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said.
He said he had instructed officials of Mara and the college to convene a disciplinary committee meeting within the next 24 hours “to conduct an investigation and take the sternest possible action against any students found to be involved”.
Asyraf said the case came to light after the parents of a 14-year-old boy revealed that their child had requested to leave the residential college because he could no longer endure the suffering caused by the bullying.
Six Form Five students have been remanded for two days to assist in a police investigation.
“Whatever the reason given, bullying or taking matters into one’s own hands under the pretext of ‘disciplining’ junior students is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said Asyraf.
He said he had repeatedly told the entire junior college community “You touch, you go”. College students should not be afraid to report any bullying immediately and not choose to leave because they had become victims.
