KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — PAS will announce its position on support for Bersatu in the Johor state election after a special Central Committee meeting today, its secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said.
Speaking to reporters after attending the Kota Baru PAS annual general meeting, Sinar Harian reported that Takiyuddin said the meeting, scheduled to begin at 5pm, would determine the party’s stance on several issues, including political cooperation within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
“As of now, no decision has been reached,” he said.
Takiyuddin also dismissed any suggestion that the Perikatan logo could be changed for the Johor election, saying the matter had already been settled following Saturday’s nomination process.
He said all 32 PN candidates — comprising 16 from Bersatu, 11 from PAS and five from Gerakan — are contesting under the coalition’s logo.
“How can you change it now? The candidates are already in the race. That’s the logo that Perikatan allows its component parties to use,” he said.
Takiyuddin added that the contest remained wide open, describing all parties in the Johor election as experienced political players with previous electoral experience, including in the 15th General Election.
“I think all parties have equal chances. We will see how it unfolds,” he said.
