Missing Taiping woman tells Kajang police she chose to vanish, asks family to let her be

IPOH, June 29 — A woman reported missing in Taiping since June 16 has come forward and lodged a police report at the Kajang District Police Headquarters in Selangor, denying allegations that she had been abducted.

Taiping District Police acting chief Supt Mohd Ariffridzuan Ezahar said Nor Afiza Zainuddin, 41, lodged the report at about 3pm yesterday.

“Through the police report, the missing person also informed us that she did not wish to be disturbed by her family members or any other parties.

“She (Nor Afiza) explained that she had left home on June 16 of her own free will without any coercion from any individual,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Ariffridzuan said her statement had been recorded and police had verified that the report was genuine, adding that she was found to be safe, in good health and unharmed.

In this regard, Mohd Ariffridzuan advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the case, which could cause unnecessary public concern.

On June 24, Mohd Ariffridzuan said Nor Afiza was last seen leaving her mother’s house in Lorong Mewah 16, Taman Mewah, Kamunting, on June 16, driving a white Perodua Axia.

On June 21, police found the Perodua Axia in good condition along with several items belonging to Nor Afiza at a recreational area in Kampung Paya Lintang, Batu Hampar, near Padang Rengas. — Bernama
