PETALING JAYA: Petroleum Sarawak Bhd’s (Petros) multi-fuel stations are ready to roll out the BUDI Diesel programme which will come into effect on July 1.

Robert Hardin, the CEO of SEDC Energy, which operates these stations in Sarawak, said the company will leverage its experience in rolling out the BUDI95 targeted fuel subsidy programme.

“Through the implementation of that programme, we gained valuable experience that improved our operational readiness, staff training, and system integration to support the implementation of BUDI Diesel,” he was quoted by Dayak Daily as saying.

From July 1, about 700,000 eligible private diesel vehicle owners nationwide will be able to buy subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre under the initiative.

Purchases are capped at 200 litres a month.

Hardin described the federal government’s initiative as an important step towards strengthening the targeted subsidy mechanism by reducing fuel leakages and ensuring assistance reaches those who are genuinely eligible.

He said the programme would also create a more efficient and sustainable fuel distribution mechanism while supporting long-term market stability.

To date, SEDC Energy has developed 12 multi-fuel stations throughout Sarawak, with plans to set up 30 more stations in stages.
