SINGAPORE, July 2 — A violent brawl outside an Orchard Road nightclub left four men injured and two others in police custody in the early hours of Wednesday.

Emergency services responded to a call for assistance near the junction of Orchard Road and Buyong Road around 3am, The Straits Times reported.

Upon arrival, police found four 38-year-old men injured at the scene. Three suffered lacerations, while a fourth sustained minor injuries. All four remained conscious as they were rushed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of two men, aged 25 and 27, on suspicion of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means. Police also seized a knife during the operation. The 27-year-old suspect was later admitted to the same hospital.

Reports from Chinese-language outlet Lianhe Zaobao suggest the clash involved two groups of customers outside the Candy Lounge nightclub. The confrontation turned deadly serious when one individual was allegedly stabbed in the neck.

The club's social media indicates it typically operates from 10pm to 3am, with extended hours until 4am on Saturdays and public holidays.

By 9.20am, the scene had returned to its usual bustle. When The Straits Times arrived, no police or SCDF personnel remained, and traffic flowed smoothly through the junction.

Nearby business owners, including a money changer and a mini-mart operator at Orchard Plaza, opened their shops at 9am as usual, unaware that a violent encounter had unfolded just steps away.

The incident highlights a worrying trend in the city-state. Physical crimes involving knives are climbing, with 75 knife-related incidents reported in the first half of 2025, up from 59 during the same period last year.

Police investigations are ongoing.
