Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner accused of sexual assault

Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner faces sexual assault accusations, according to a new report.

Jenny Racicot, a 41-year-old Maine resident, detailed the alleged incident to Politico in three interviews over two weeks. According to reports, Platner entered her rural Maine home uninvited in late 2021 while deeply intoxicated and forced himself on her despite her repeated objections.

A former boyfriend of Racicot corroborated the incident.

Racicot provided supporting evidence, including emails between herself and her therapist and messages to an acquaintance warning against involvement with Platner years before his Senate campaign.

Racicot says she informed Platner the encounter was non-consensual and subsequently ended contact.

"These allegations are troubling, serious, and false. Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically untrue," claimed Platner.

The accusation adds to a series of controversies surrounding Platner, an oyster farmer and veteran challenging Republican Senator Susan Collins.
