Galaxy Secures $460M Investment From Undisclosed Asset Manager for Data Center Expansion

Galaxy Digital (Nasdaq: GLXY) has secured a $460 million strategic investment from an undisclosed major asset management firm, with proceeds earmarked for general corporate purposes and the buildout of its Helios data center campus targeting AI workloads.

The investment, announced in a statement on 10 Oct, consists of 12,777,778 Class A common shares purchased at $36 per share, with 9,027,778 shares sold by Galaxy directly and 3,750,000 shares sold by executive officers including founder and CEO Mike Novogratz. The transaction values Galaxy's equity at approximately $9.5 billion based on the purchase price.

"Strengthening our balance sheet is essential to scaling Galaxy's data center business efficiently while maintaining the financial flexibility to support future growth," Novogratz said. "Having one of the world's largest and most sophisticated institutional investors make such a significant investment in our company will support our strategic vision and our ability to build leading businesses across digital assets and data centers."

Galaxy did not disclose the identity of the asset manager, describing it only as "one of the world's largest and most respected" institutional investors.

The investment will partially fund Galaxy's Helios data center campus, which remains on schedule to deliver 133 MW of critical IT load in the first half of 2026 as part of its Phase One lease agreement. The facility targets AI compute workloads rather than cryptocurrency mining, reflecting Galaxy's strategic pivot toward higher-margin infrastructure businesses.

Galaxy reported $411 million in second-quarter revenue and has been transitioning from pure-play digital asset services toward a diversified model combining crypto trading, asset management, investment banking, and data center infrastructure. The data center business represents a hedge against cryptocurrency market volatility while capitalizing on AI infrastructure demand.

The company's strategic shift mirrors broader industry trends as crypto miners and blockchain infrastructure providers pivot toward AI workloads. The transition leverages existing capabilities in power management, cooling systems, and data center operations while accessing potentially more stable revenue streams than cryptocurrency mining.

The Helios campus timeline targeting first-half 2026 delivery aligns with aggressive development schedules seen across the AI data center sector. Demand for high-performance computing infrastructure has outpaced supply as AI model training and inference workloads require specialized facilities with substantial power capacity.

The transaction is expected to close October 17 pending customary conditions including Toronto Stock Exchange approval, as Galaxy maintains dual listings on Nasdaq and TSX. The relatively quick closing timeline suggests straightforward terms without complex contingencies.

Galaxy plans to report third-quarter financial results October 21, providing updates on both digital asset businesses and data center development progress.

A ‘Star Wars’ Actor Rewrites The Entire New Trilogy They Starred In

The post A ‘Star Wars’ Actor Rewrites The Entire New Trilogy They Starred In appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. It feels like we don’t hear all that much from actor John Boyega that much, outside of when he’s talking about Star Wars as of late. And in a recent Popverse interview, he went so far as to rework the entire trilogy, in terms of what he’d do differently, as he’s been vocal about what he believed went wrong with the original. Here’s what he said: “It would be mad. First of all, we’re not getting rid of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, all these people. We’re not doing that. The first thing we’re going to do is fulfill their story, fulfill their legacy. We’re going to make a good moment of handing on the baton.” “Luke Skywalker wouldn’t be disappearing on a rock … Hell no. Standing there and he’s, like, a projector? I would want to give those characters way more way more” By the end of the trilogy, all three major Star Wars leads are dead. Han Solo killed by his son, Kylo Ren. Luke Skywalker fading into the ether after force projecting himself to face Kylo Ren. Leia had to be written off due to the tragic death of Carrie Fisher during the production of the trilogy. So Boyega would halt at least the first two deaths, as it did come off as strange that “passing the baton” was mainly killing all the big characters. He continues: “Our new characters will not be overpowered in these movies. They won’t just grab stuff and know what to do with it… No. You’ve got to struggle like every other character in this franchise.” This is likely a reference to both Rey and himself. Rey was frequently criticized as a “Mary Sue,” possessing immense power and skill in everything from flying to fighting to the force despite growing up as…
