Trezor has announced the launch of the Trezor Safe 7 hardware wallet. This is reported by representatives of Incrypted, who attended the presentation of the device.

According to Trezor, the new wallet introduces several industry innovations, including: a fully verifiable secure element (TROPIC01) and a quantum threat-ready architecture. It also features seamless mobile connectivity.

Core to the new Trezor Safe 7 is TROPIC01, a secure element that allows the community to control the wallet’s operation instead of blindly trusting the hardware without understanding its inner workings.

The wallet is known to be designed with the future in mind. Specifically, its architecture is ready for quantum threats and supports quantum-safe updates. When networks upgrade to post-quantum security, the hardware wallet will not need to be replaced, the team noted.

The team added that Trezor Safe 7 features an EAL6 secondary element with no NDA — providing physical and cryptographic protection. Private keys are completely isolated from the host system, and all sensitive actions must be confirmed physically on a high-resolution touchscreen, Trezor noted.

The Trezor Safe 7 also supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Qi2 magnetic wireless charging and features a high-resolution color touchscreen. Bluetooth communication is secured using Trezor Host Protocol (THP). According to the team, these hardware solutions are complemented by an aluminum chassis and Gorilla Glass protection, ensuring a seamless experience across mobile and desktop platforms.

Additionally, with the Trezor Suite platform, users can manage thousands of coins and tokens, trade, steak and access third-party integrations — all in one interface.

A bitcoin-only wallet version is also available. Trezor Safe 7 is priced at $249. Both versions are already available for pre-order through the official website.

FTX to pay creditors an additional $1.6 billion in third bankruptcy distribution on September 30

PANews reported on September 20th that, according to The Block, FTX will pay an additional $1.6 billion to creditors as part of the third distribution of its bankruptcy estate, starting September 30th. The bankruptcy plan, finalized in October 2024, will utilize over $15 billion in recovered assets. FTX's latest payments will be made to both the exchange's convenient and non-convenient categories. The convenient category generally refers to retail traders and small creditors, who make up the majority (up to 99%) of FTX's creditor base, while the non-convenient category involves larger or more complex claims. FTX’s initial two distributions were intended to refund the exchange’s retail users approximately 120% of their balances at the time FTX declared bankruptcy in November 2022. Nonetheless, some former users expressed frustration with FTX’s bankruptcy proceedings, arguing that the cash payout from the FTX bankruptcy estate is worth far less than what their crypto assets would be worth today had they not been liquidated, given the market’s rebound since the pandemic-era bear market trough.
