  • Google has unveiled the first verified quantum algorithm, Quantum Echoes.
  • According to the company, it is 13,000 times faster than supercomputers.
  • Following Google, the new algorithm sees what was invisible to science.

Google has unveiled the Quantum Echoes algorithm, which, according to the developers, is the world’s first confirmed basis for the practical application of quantum computing, surpassing the capabilities of even the most powerful supercomputers.

The new algorithm runs on the Google Willow quantum chip and has shown a speed 13,000 times faster than the most powerful classical algorithms on supercomputers.

According to the company, Quantum Echoes can become the foundation for measuring molecular structures, which will open the way to new approaches in drug and materials development, in particular, in identifying new types of materials.

According to the research journal Nature, the Quantum Echoes experiment showed 99.9% accuracy when working with 105 qubits and solved a problem that physicists had been working on for 150 years in just two hours. The publication also notes that Willow is the first to achieve a confirmed “quantum superiority,” meaning that it has demonstrated results that can be physically verified.

Google believes that the quantum algorithm can become a driving force for artificial intelligence (AI), creating new unique data sets, especially in areas where quality data is scarce, such as biomedicine or life sciences.

The development is already being compared to the breakthrough made by Google last year when it introduced the Willow chip, which, for the first time, overcame one of the main problems of quantum computing — the instability of qubits.

Google is not the only tech company investing in quantum computing. Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, and other industry leaders are also working on this technology.

However, not everyone in the industry accepts these achievements without reservations. For example, in May 2025, BlackRock warned that the development of quantum technologies could jeopardize the security of bitcoin and other digital assets. And in June, IBM presented a roadmap for the creation of a fully fault-tolerant quantum computer, Quantum Starling, which is scheduled to launch in 2029.

In addition, DeFi developer André Cronje said in his post on social media:

At the same time, in September, financial conglomerate HSBC and tech giant IBM used quantum computing in bond trading for the first time, increasing the accuracy of forecasts by 34%.

Google also continues to increase its capacity in quantum and AI technologies — just last week, the company announced a $24 billion investment in the development of AI infrastructure in the US and India.

EU Commissioner pledges to advance pension and cryptocurrency reforms this year

PANews reported on September 19th that, according to Jinshi, the European Union has set a year-end target for further measures to boost pension investments and streamline trading processes, in an effort to inject momentum into the revival of Europe's capital markets. EU Financial Services Commissioner Albuquerque announced the plan on Thursday. She also announced that the European Commission is considering granting direct supervisory authority to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), its top market regulator based in Paris. She stated that with the transfer of supervisory authority to ESMA, the Commission will consider the feasibility of centralized oversight of certain market infrastructures, such as central counterparties, central securities depositories, and trading venues. She added that emerging sectors, such as cryptoasset service providers, would also benefit from more centralized supervision, emphasizing that such a move would not diminish the role of national regulators.
