OpenAI announces acquisition of Software Applications Incorporated, the creator of Sky, enhancing AI integration with macOS and advancing its vision for ChatGPT.

OpenAI has announced its acquisition of Software Applications Incorporated, the company behind the innovative natural language interface, Sky. This move is set to bolster OpenAI’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence more seamlessly into everyday computing experiences, according to OpenAI.

Strategic Integration of Sky

Sky, known for its sophisticated natural language interface for macOS, allows AI to assist users in various tasks, such as writing, planning, and coding. The acquisition aims to bring Sky’s deep integration and intuitive product design into OpenAI’s ChatGPT, enhancing its utility and responsiveness on macOS platforms.

Nick Turley, VP & Head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating, “We’re building a future where ChatGPT doesn’t just respond to your prompts, it helps you get things done. Sky’s deep integration with the Mac accelerates our vision of bringing AI directly into the tools people use every day.”

Vision for AI-Driven Computing

The move aligns with OpenAI’s broader strategy to enhance how AI interfaces with users by understanding context and adapting to user intent. This acquisition underscores OpenAI’s commitment to making AI not only more intelligent but also more accessible and functional within existing software ecosystems.

Ari Weinstein, Co-Founder and CEO of Software Applications Incorporated, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’ve always wanted computers to be more empowering, customizable, and intuitive. With LLMs, we can finally put the pieces together. That’s why we built Sky, an AI experience that floats over your desktop to help you think and create. We’re thrilled to join OpenAI to bring that vision to hundreds of millions of people.”

Future Developments

The integration of Sky’s capabilities into ChatGPT is expected to offer users a more robust AI experience, facilitating greater productivity and interaction with their computing environments. OpenAI plans to continue enhancing its AI offerings, promising further updates as the integration progresses.

As AI technology continues to evolve, this acquisition highlights OpenAI’s proactive approach to expanding its influence and utility in the AI space, particularly in making advanced AI tools more accessible to the general public.

It is noteworthy that an investment fund associated with Sam Altman held a passive investment in Software Applications Incorporated, and the acquisition was led by Nick Turley and Fidji Simo, receiving approval from OpenAI’s independent Transaction and Audit Committees.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
