Key Facts

The bathroom attached to the White House’s Lincoln Bedroom now features marble floors and walls, which Trump said on Truth Social is “very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there.”

Trump previously told NBC News he planned on redoing the bathroom as part of his White House renovations, stating at the time the Lincoln Bathroom was “terribly” modeled.

Trump said on Truth Social the bathroom previously featured green tiles in an art deco style, which he said was “totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era.”

The photos show a marble sink, shower and bathtub, with much of the room featuring gold accents, including faucets and flower pots, with a robe bearing the presidential seal hanging on the wall.

Trump also said in a Friday afternoon post the Kennedy Center, which he took over as chairman earlier this year, is also being remodeled with marble and new carpeting, claiming the arts center was “dead as a doornail, but it will soon be beautiful again!”

What Else Do We Know About Trump’s White House Renovations?

The White House’s East Wing was torn down last week in preparation for the construction of a ballroom Trump has said will cost $300 million. Trump said in a Truth Social post last week construction had begun on the project, claiming the project is privately funded and will proceed at “zero cost to the American Taxpayer.” The project has stirred some backlash, as House Democrats have demanded the White House explain how it is funding the project and whether donors were promised any benefits in return. “The opaque nature of this scheme reinforces concern that President Trump is again selling presidential access to individuals or entities, including foreign nationals and corporate actors, with vested interests in federal action,” Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., wrote in a letter to Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles, criticizing the administration for carrying out the project “in secret without congressional or other oversight or appropriate public scrutiny.” A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll released Thursday found 56% of the more than 2,700 adults surveyed opposed the demolition of the East Wing, with just 28% voicing support and another 16% unsure. Nearly all Democrats, 88%, said they opposed the project, while 61% of Republicans said they support it.

Tangent

Trump’s renovation plans have proceeded throughout the government shutdown, which has lingered for a month, and as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program food stamps benefits are slated to run out this weekend. A federal judge ruled Friday afternoon the Trump administration cannot block food stamps benefits and must use emergency funds to at least partially cover benefits in November.

Surprising Fact

Ticket sales at the Kennedy Center have plummeted months after Trump installed himself as chairman, a Washington Post analysis found. Since early September, just 57% of tickets were sold for productions, compared to 93% sold in fall 2024 and 80% sold in fall 2023.

Alabama Crimson Tide greats Patrick Surtain II and Terrion Arnold are debuting a new podcast called “Closed On Sundays.” (Photo by Justin Edmonds/Getty Images) Getty Images Patrick Surtain II and Terrion Arnold may not have played at the same time with the Alabama Crimson Tide, but they share a lot in common during their NFL careers. The two standout cornerbacks not only played at Alabama, they did so under legendary head coach Nick Saban. That path that started in Tuscaloosa led to both players being selected in the first round of the NFL draft, where they now serve as the No. 1 cornerbacks of their respective teams. In Surtain II’s case, he’s the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and regarded as one of the top overall players as a member of the Denver Broncos. In Arnold’s case, he’s coming off of a solid rookie campaign with the Detroit Lions. Considering their backgrounds, it’s no surprise that the two are pairing up to form their first podcasts together called “Closed On Sundays.” The weekly series will see the two share stories from an on-field perspective and behind the scenes, along with featuring weekly guests. It’s an interesting dynamic considering the 25-year-old Surtain II – even though he’s the more established of the duo – is more reserved whereas as the 22-year-old Arnold is more outspoken and is not afraid to give headline-worthy quotes. The Lions cornerback arguably gave the quote of the year shortly after he was drafted when he said he would jam his mom into the dirt if she lined up across him as a receiver. “It meshes well because Terrion may say the things that I may not say or may not come out of my mouth,” says Surtain II in a one-on-one interview. “It’s good to…
