In just one week, Prince super fans will rush to pick up a copy of a special new release from the late superstar. The rocker’s album Around the World in a Day turned 40 earlier this year, and as is common in the music industry, a special edition of the full-length is set to be unleashed later this month. Ahead of an updated take on the rock classic shipping, Around the World in a Day as well as one of the singles pushed from the project during its initial heyday have both become bestsellers in America again, just as they likely will once more later in November.

Around the World in a Day Returns to the Top 10 on iTunes

On the iTunes Top Albums chart, Around the World in a Day, which is credited to both Prince and The Revolution, appears at No. 4. The set breaks back in thanks to excitement around the forthcoming anniversary edition being shared, as well as an extended take on one track arriving.

Prince Joins 5 Seconds of Summer, Kelsea Ballerini and Summer Walker

Prince’s performance on the iTunes Top Albums list, which ranks the bestselling full-lengths and EPs on what is usually considered the most important among all the digital storefronts in the music business, is impressive considering the fact that it is a Friday. That is the day of the week when the tracking period begins again, so it is the most competitive. There are multiple debuts inside the top 10 on the iTunes Top Albums chart this Friday, as Prince is joined inside that region by fellow stars like 5 Seconds of Summer, Kelsea Ballerini, Wale, Summer Walker, and hip-hop musician NF.

“Pop Life” Becomes a Bestseller Again for Prince

An extended version of “Pop Life,” one of the four singles promoted from Around the World in a Day, is also a strong seller on the iTunes Top Songs tally, though it does not climb nearly as high as the full-length on which it is featured. “Pop Life” currently lives at No. 22 on the roster, but it could continue to improve its standing as this Friday (November 14) continues.

Prince Follows Louis Tomlinson and Megadeth

Despite the fact that “Pop Life” sits just outside the top 20, it manages to stand out as one of the most exciting new arrivals on the iTunes Top Songs chart at the outset of this tracking frame. Megadeth scores the biggest win as new single “I Don’t Care” hits No. 1. Only two other just-released cuts — Jamie MacDonald’s “My Family” and Louis Tomlinson’s “Palaces” — beat Prince and his backing band, as those tunes enter at Nos. 7 and 21, respectively.

What Is Included in Prince’s Around the World in a Day Re-Release?

Next Friday (November 21), multiple versions of Around the World in a Day will be released. Followers of the rocker will be able to purchase a new Dolby Atmos mix as well as a deluxe edition that will be available as two-CD or three-LP versions. The updated anniversary take is set to include all the songs that made Around the World in a Day a Prince classic, as well as alternative versions, remixes, B-sides, and more.

Prince’s Seventh Album Followed Purple Rain

Around the World in a Day served as Prince’s seventh album. Expectations for the project were incredibly high, as it followed his Grammy- and Oscar-winning Purple Rain by just one year. While it was a commercial success, the full-length wasn’t as popular as its predecessor, though it did highlight Prince’s desire to experiment and discover new territory in his work.

The full-length hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning Prince his second champion. Two singles, “Raspberry Beret” and “Pop Life,” found their way into the uppermost tier on the Hot 100, while fellow tracks “Paisley Park” and “America” did not perform quite as well but are still remembered fondly among Prince lovers who are sure to devour the upcoming extended edition of the project.
