  • Takenos activated QR payments for foreign Devconnect attendees, solving forex issues with a digital dollar and stablecoin account.
  • The AFA and WIN’s player tokenization platform now has 120,000 users and over 220 professional footballers tokenized.

The digital wallet Takenos enabled QR code payments for all foreign visitors within Argentina. This specific function, which remains unavailable for Argentine residents, launched directly in response to the Devconnect global Ethereum fair.

Representatives from Takenos explained they worked to activate this feature after observing a common problem among Devconnect attendees. Many visitors could not open local bank accounts and faced less favorable exchange rates for their payments within the country.

The solution involved providing a account where users can hold a balance in digital dollars, transfer stablecoins like USDT and USDC, make payments in Brazilian reals, and withdraw funds in Argentine pesos. Due to the effectiveness of the solution, combined with on-site activation and social media spread, approximately 5,000 foreign users began using the new payment function.

Football Player Tokenization Platform Reaches 120,000 Users

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) and WIN Investments presented progress on their agreement to tokenize football players. This initiative functions as a financing tool for clubs and athletes. The presentation was led by Claudio «Chiqui» Tapia, president of AFA, and Valentín Jaremtchuk, founder and CEO of WIN.

Jaremtchuk stated that AFA trusted his project from its beginnings. He also announced new partnerships with the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) and the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) to finance athletes on their path to the Los Angeles 2028 games.

Their platform, which allows participation in the player transfer market through the acquisition of tokens linked to the projection and performance of professional footballers, has accumulated 120,000 users across 40 countries. The platform currently hosts more than 220 tokenized players, including stars like Lionel Messi, Alexis Mac Allister, Nicolás González, and Emiliano «Dibu» Martínez.

Claudio Tapia asserted that tokenization can transform the financing structure for Argentine clubs. He described it as a very important contribution. Tapia also emphasized that this marks a shift in access to investment within the sports market.

He elaborated that Argentina possesses a training-focused football culture where most players succeed internationally and many become captains in their clubs. This technology allows them to enhance that system.

Tapia noted that the largest clubs globally recruit Argentine players, and this tokenization provides fundamental support for Argentine football to maintain its pioneering role. Valentín Jaremtchuk concluded by stating they aim to make history and democratize the world’s most popular sport.

He specified that tokenization now allows any person to participate in the transfer market of a professional footballer, eliminating the requirement of being a large-scale investor.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
