Best Buy Co., Inc., BBY

Best Buy reported a surge in revenue and positive sales growth for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026. The company’s total revenue reached $9.67 billion, marking a 2.4% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was fueled by solid performance across its key segments, including computing, gaming, and mobile phones. Additionally, the company exceeded analysts’ expectations, reflecting the ongoing success of its business model in a competitive retail environment.

Domestic Segment Performance Drives Revenue Growth

In the domestic market, Best Buy’s revenue hit $8.88 billion, up 2.1% year-over-year. Comparable sales rose by 2.4%, largely driven by gains in computing, gaming and mobile phones. The company’s online sales also saw an increase, growing by 3.5% compared to the same period last year. Despite these positive results, the gross profit margin for the domestic segment slightly decreased to 23.3% due to lower product margin rates.

Best Buy’s focus on enhancing the customer experience continued to pay off, contributing to the strong sales performance. The company’s dedication to providing quality service and a seamless shopping experience helped maintain steady growth in both its online and physical stores. Adjusted SG&A (selling, general, and administrative) expenses remained flat at $1.71 billion, and the company achieved a slight improvement in its expense ratio, which fell from 19.7% to 19.2%.

International Segment Shows Impressive Growth

Best Buy’s international segment also delivered positive results in Q3 FY26. The company’s international revenue reached $794 million, a 6.1% increase from the same period last year. Comparable sales grew by 6.3%, driven by strong performance in several international markets. The company faced some headwinds from unfavorable foreign exchange rates.

The international segment’s gross profit rate improved to 22.8%, up from 22.5% in the previous year, reflecting better supply chain cost management. Meanwhile, adjusted SG&A expenses in international markets decreased to 19.3% of revenue, down from 20.7% in Q3 FY25. This efficiency contributed to the segment’s overall profitability, underscoring Best Buy’s ability to navigate challenges in global markets.

Strong Q3 Performance Sets Optimistic Tone for FY26 Outlook

Following a solid third-quarter performance, Best Buy raised its full-year revenue guidance for fiscal year 2026. The company now expects annual revenue between $41.65 billion and $41.95 billion, an increase from its previous forecast. Comparable sales are expected to grow between 0.5% and 1.2%, while the adjusted operating income rate is projected to be around 4.2%. Best Buy’s adjusted diluted EPS guidance was also raised to a range of $6.25 to $6.35.

The company’s leadership expressed confidence in their strategy moving forward, particularly with the upcoming holiday season. CEO Corie Barry highlighted that continued innovation and a strong customer focus would fuel further growth. CFO Matt Bilunas emphasized that the improved financial outlook reflects both the strong Q3 results and the company’s ability to capitalize on upcoming market trends.
