DOGE Rejects Shutdown Claims, Says Next Update Is Coming Soon

  • DOGE rejected claims that it shut down early, slamming Reuters.
  • Reuters said that the agency’s functions were usurped by the OPM.
  • OPM Director Scott Kupor said that DOGE is no longer a centralized entity.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) boldly rejected claims that it had been dissolved ahead of schedule and fired back at a Reuters report that said the agency no longer existed as a “centralized entity” and had effectively concluded its mandate eight months early.

In a statement posted on X, the department dismissed the article as “fake news” and insisted that the initiative remains active under the pro-crypto Donald Trump administration even after the exit of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Reuters Claims Dissolution

A recent investigation alleged that DOGE no longer functioned as a single coordinated entity and that its responsibilities had been absorbed by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Reuters claimed that the agency has ended operations earlier than scheduled despite an order that originally greenlit operations through mid‑2026.

In response, DOGE dismissed the report, adding that the department remains operational. DOGE was created to reduce waste, modernize government operations, and streamline federal spending under President Donald Trump’s direction and it said that it continues to do so.

The department boasted new rounds of contract terminations and reductions across multiple agencies in an effort to cut unnecessary spending. It claimed to have terminated 78 wasteful contracts and saved taxpayers $335 million in the past week alone.

A Program That Once Made Waves

The Reuters report said that DOGE’s presence has reduced since the early months of Trump’s second term, when DOGE carried out unexpected visits to federal offices, trimmed agency budgets, and oversaw massive workforce reductions.

Staff reportedly left headquarters by the summer, with some concerned their roles in cost‑cutting efforts could bring legal scrutiny. Senior personnel, including Acting Administrator Amy Gleason, shifted their focus to other departments, and Trump himself began referring to DOGE in the past tense, as per Reuters.

Notably, Musk, who had served as the most visible symbol of DOGE’s agenda, exited following a Washington policy dispute. OPM Director Scott Kupor later acknowledged that DOGE no longer operated as a centrally organized body, claiming that most of the powers of the department have been usurped by the OPM.

Fed Decides On Interest Rates Today—Here’s What To Watch For

The post Fed Decides On Interest Rates Today—Here’s What To Watch For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Topline The Federal Reserve on Wednesday will conclude a two-day policymaking meeting and release a decision on whether to lower interest rates—following months of pressure and criticism from President Donald Trump—and potentially signal whether additional cuts are on the way. President Donald Trump has urged the central bank to “CUT INTEREST RATES, NOW, AND BIGGER” than they might plan to. Getty Images Key Facts The central bank is poised to cut interest rates by at least a quarter-point, down from the 4.25% to 4.5% range where they have been held since December to between 4% and 4.25%, as Wall Street has placed 100% odds of a rate cut, according to CME’s FedWatch, with higher odds (94%) on a quarter-point cut than a half-point (6%) reduction. Fed governors Christopher Waller and Michelle Bowman, both Trump appointees, voted in July for a quarter-point reduction to rates, and they may dissent again in favor of a large cut alongside Stephen Miran, Trump’s Council of Economic Advisers’ chair, who was sworn in at the meeting’s start on Tuesday. It’s unclear whether other policymakers, including Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid and St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem, will favor larger cuts or opt for no reduction. Fed Chair Jerome Powell said in his Jackson Hole, Wyoming, address last month the central bank would likely consider a looser monetary policy, noting the “shifting balance of risks” on the U.S. economy “may warrant adjusting our policy stance.” David Mericle, an economist for Goldman Sachs, wrote in a note the “key question” for the Fed’s meeting is whether policymakers signal “this is likely the first in a series of consecutive cuts” as the central bank is anticipated to “acknowledge the softening in the labor market,” though they may not “nod to an October cut.” Mericle said he…
