Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has given 256 ETH to encrypted messaging systems. The relocation is a good indicator of a digital privacy solution.

Buterin made the contribution on X, allocating 128 ETH to the Session and SimpleX Chat. He referred to digital privacy as being of utmost importance in encrypted messaging. The donation focuses on two applications that push the metadata security boundaries.

Challenges Remain for Decentralized Messaging

Neither of the apps is yet perfect software, as Vitalik Buterin tweeted on X. Good metadata privacy needs to be decentralized, which has technical challenges. The concept of multi-device makes security architecture more complicated.

Buterin pointed out Sybil and DoS resistance as other challenges. Phone number-independent attacks on message routing networks are possible. On decentralized systems, user-side protection has not been easy.

According to the Ethereum founder, developers need to pay greater attention to these issues. He wished success to all the teams addressing privacy issues. The grants are meant to hasten the development of encrypted communications.

Session is a decentralized network based on onion routing technology. SimpleX Chat does not use user identifiers in its protocol. Both platforms are opposed to the traditional centralized server models.

The value of the contribution is around $320 thousand at the current ETH prices. Buterin has a history of donating to privacy and public good projects. His most recent action supports the protection of digital rights.

It’s on those charts where Sinatra rebounds this week, and one of his popular projects returns not to one, but two tallies at the same time, helping him increase the total amount of real estate he owns at the moment. Frank Sinatra’s The World We Knew Returns Sinatra’s The World We Knew is a top performer again, if only on the jazz lists. That set rebounds to No. 15 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart and comes in at No. 20 on the all-encompassing Jazz Albums ranking after not appearing on either roster just last frame. The World We Knew’s All-Time Highs The World We Knew returns close to its all-time peak on both of those rosters. Sinatra’s classic has peaked at No. 11 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart, just missing out on becoming another top 10 for the crooner. The set climbed all the way to No. 15 on the Jazz Albums tally and has now spent just under two months on the rosters. Frank Sinatra’s Album With Classic Hits Sinatra released The World We Knew in the summer of 1967. The title track, which on the album is actually known as “The World We Knew (Over and…
